DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
The servants lit the large cauldrons of boiling oil, which immediately burst into
flame. The blue-gold fire rippled and illuminated the dark hall, but not enough to
prevent pockets of darkness and shadow throughout. Other servants bustled and set the
long tables with plates, cups and utensils of silver, which sparkled in the firelight.
At the head of the largest table there was a throne, covered with gold inlay and
rubies which, likewise, glowed.
Seated on the throne was a large man with red tinged skin and long, wicked black horns
jutting from his forehead. This was Infernal, leader of the Angels of Pain guildhouse
and Duelmaster of Arvat arena. He smiled evilly at the guests and servitors as they
filed into the immense dining hall.
It had been a while since one of his kin held court and longer since they ruled the
great arena by the swamp. He knew he did not have long, but there was much to do.
Yes. There was much to do...
SPY REPORT
Good day, friends and fiends, welcome to your friendly neighborhood spyreport.
I doubt ARVAT will ever be the same. Now keep the taverns open late tonight, for
there are sorrows to drown for HELL'S HEROES, whose 1-4-1 this turn dropped them by 5
into 12th. And let's see, RUMORS OF WAR fought DAGON and gained 16 points and
contributed to APOCALYPSE's 3-2-0. E.O.D. has lost to ABI WAN KENOBI, falling 11
points, while helping make SECRET SQUIRRELS a 2-3-1 turn. This turn INFERNAL
challenged DEFCON ONE in what was ARVAT's Title bout. Defending his title for
another turn, INFERNAL kept APOCALYPSE's warrior, DEFCON ONE, from claiming the
throne. By the way, was that our Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the
table at The Warty Toad?
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. DEATH BY DESIGN has cause to stand
tall, as they were ARVAT's most avoided team. A smart manager knows this is a team
to beat. And avoiding DEATH BY DESIGN more than any other team we find THE
VALKYRIES. ARVAT, are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? The most
challenged warrior this turn was SMOKIN' CHICKEN's warrior SPACHCOCK. More fighters
challenged him than challenged the Duelmaster! FAYE of THE VALKYRIES had better have
a good reason for challenging down 9 points in a challenge which she won. I thought
FAYE showed great skill and promise when she overcame THE CONTINGENCY. All right, so
I slept through it! Big deal!
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to
be true. SECRET SQUIRRELS made what looks to be a tough decision this turn, as they
sent STONE TEMPLE PILOT, with a record of 8-6-0, to STONE TEMPLE PILOT death.
Farewell, his. DEVIL ADVOCATES, with any luck KNIGHT LIFE will successfully
bloodfeud DEE YEVELWON for killing such a warrior as SIR KILL. Have a little
decency, will ya? A brave warrior does not carry a red shield, he has nothing to
cover or hide when the fight is over. Consider well.
