Notes from the arena champ.
I guess there really IS a lack of interest in Aradi these days. I mean, when I have to
fight a stand-in to claim the throne, when none of the other top warriors can be
bothered to show up on the sands, I can only assume that nobody cares. Well, I will
take the benefits that come along with the Duelmaster's throne. It just means that I
am that much closer to making it out of here, on my way to the Isle of the Eye.
Speaking of making it out of here, we Royals are in mourning over Lord Sunstone
"making it out" of the arena. He's the fifth 17 Wit, 17 Will Aimed Blow that our Royal
Patron, the Neon Necromancer, has had killed recently. (With zero D17 ABs actually
reaching graduation.) Perhaps the next one...

SPY REPORT
The pigeons flew backward this week, which means someone tampered with the
Duelmaster's throne again. Royal Assassin still occupies the position, but don't think
for a second that there wasn't a secret, shadowy operation working behind the scenes.
The crown is bugged with a magic listening spell, and the throne's legs are hollow
with listening tubes. Somewhere under the sands, there is a secret tunnel that leads
straight to the kitchen of The Victory Tavern. Deep breaths! Deep breaths! Okay,
follow the blue ale kegs and you'll find the truth.
Speaking of truth, Queen Tiffin took her blood back from Chuck Meat, leaving him
nothing but a chalk outline. Have you ever wondered how they create chalk outlines on
sand? Coincidence? Hardly. I've been saying for years that the meat here isn't beef,
and now look ? gone. Ask no questions at dinner!
The Tinfoil Mafia (yes, them, don't laugh) is the top team this week. They moved up
the ranks rather quickly with a 5-0 turn. Too quickly, if you ask me. Newcomers never
climb that fast unless they have handlers in the stands, dealing fight cards with
coded messages. Their names are coded, too! Those aren't stage names, they're
warnings! Is anyone listening? Stay awake or be erased!
Elsewhere on the sands, Calm Anemone was anything but calm, dismantling Dravender like
a puzzle box. Atalan smacked down Badger, which tells me the dogs have been drugged
again, their water bowls swapped under the moonlight. The Bunkhouse boys bled, but
Rusty polished his record to a shine by clipping Prince Layoun. Rust never sleeps, and
neither do the ever-watching eyes of this city's shadow groups.
Oh, and the coward's game of avoidance? Neon Royalty was dodged more than anyone,
mostly by Unnameables. Mark it! When a team avoids you that much, it's not fear, but
coordination. The scribes call it strategy; I call it a clear case of collusion!
Remember, friends and foes: Do not walk in straight lines, do not breathe in rhythm,
and never be predictable. The enemy cannot strike what it cannot foresee!
