SPY REPORT
"Wake up, you fools! The signs are right there in the stands!"
Blix the Mad burst into the arena this morning wearing three onions around his neck,
two boots of differing sizes, and what appears to be a curtain stolen from a traveling
puppet theater. He climbed atop a water barrel outside of The Victory Tavern and
pointed accusingly at every purple robe in sight before the city watch politely asked
him to stop licking the statues again.
"PURPLE," he hissed, "is not a color. It is a CONDITION!"

Now, dear fans of glorious Aradi, your humble correspondent, Blix the Mad, brings you
the TRUTH THEY FEAR. The purple-robed nobles who attend the arena? Vampires. Every
single one of them. Think about it. Have you ever seen one eat the stew at The Victory
Tavern? No. They merely swirl wine dramatically and stare at necks. Coincidence? HA! I
once watched a purple-robed merchant applaud a decapitation without blinking. WITHOUT
BLINKING! Normal people blink at least six and a half times during a decapitation.
And where do those "nobles" sit? In shaded boxes! Away from the sun! Why? Because
sitting in the sun would reduce them to ash and unpaid gambling debts. You know who
else wears purple robes? Tax collectors. Need I say more? This turn only deepened my
suspicions.
First, poor Calm Anemone marched into the Dark Arena and was slain by Stone Golem. It
was our Duelmaster, but not really a title fight. However, a stone golem? Since when
do rocks fight for free? Somebody paid that creature. Probably with blood in a jeweled
goblet and an evil bwhahahaha laugh. I bet the goblet was purple, too!
Now, Anja from Far Travelers is our Duelmaster. Undefeated and newly crowned after
smashing Badger like an overripe squash. Remarkable work from the traveler, but I note
with concern that "Anja" sounds vaguely aristocratic. I'm watching her closely through
mirrors. Vampires hate mirrors. The science proves it.
Paper Tigers 25.4 crept upward in the rankings thanks to Grew Some Yuppie crushing
Sleeper Cell. Suspicious names all around. "Sleeper Cell?" That is exactly what a
vampire coven would call one of their operatives! I know what you are saying, "But
Blix, doesn't he work for you?" That doesn't matter! You can never be too careful
where vampires are involved. Grew Some Yuppie sounds like the sort of thing said by an
immortal landlord who owns seventeen castles and complains about garlic in pizza.
The Tinfoil Mafia remains the top team, which proves that someone around here
understands the importance of proper cranial shielding. Their agents battling bravely
against the nocturnal elite, though Mrs. Redacted suffered a rough defeat against
Ruthless Jaywalker. I surmise that hypnotism was involved. Vampires love hypnotism
almost as much as capes and real estate speculation.
Elsewhere, Blizzard Wizards avoided Unnameables. Smart. Snow reflects sunlight, and
sunlight is our greatest weapon against the purple menace. Coincidence? Impossible.
Now listen carefully, this next part can save your life. If you attend arena events,
and you see someone in a purple robe, follow these steps. First, offer them garlic
bread and observe if they recoil. Ask them to stand in direct sunlight for more than
twelve minutes. Casually mention mirrors in your conversations with them. If they hiss
and turn into bats, RUN!
Do NOT accept investment opportunities from them. Do NOT enter ancient crypts under
their estates. And absolutely DO NOT let them sponsor youth fencing academies! Alarond
the Scribe ended his report with the phrase, "Remember, blood on the purple robe does
not change it from a purple robe." A warning? A confession? Or the desperate cry of a
man who has seen too much? You decide.
