Gormu steps forward, covered in mismatched armor, dragging a dented axe behind him. He
raises one hand to the crowd, squinting into the sun.
"HELLO, PEOPLE! Gormu here!"
Crowd cheers.
"Me not good with... um, big words. But me got big heart! And big shield! Also big
foot, but that not matter now."
He holds up his shield proudly.
"Me fight today for glory... for lunch... and for that one lady in row three who smile
at Gormu last time. You nice."
Awkward wink.
"Some say Gormu not smart. Gormu say... maybe true. But Gormu strong. Gormu brave.
Gormu know one thing real good: If you stand like turtle, eventually they fall down!"
Crowd laughs.
"So Gormu go now. Gormu fight. Gormu not die... maybe. But if Gormu die, tell the cook
Gormu want chicken leg in Valhalla."
He roars and runs off in the wrong direction. Someone points him toward the real arena
gate.
"Oh! Other way. THANK YOU!"
SPY REPORT
Like the magnificent Sun, rising upon the Dawn and exiling the Night for a Day,
I, Novgorodny Vir, return once again! Like a chunk of francium heaved into a wet
pond, CITY OF BONES blew up the rankings to 14! Perhaps it is SCARLET CHAPEL
members' intannibility that enabled them to move from 24th to 9th last week... (Less
time in the sun...) Managers were muttering after THE BLACK ELITE showed DWES EG what
they could do: 2-0-0 to move up by 12. Thinking about sending their team manager to
the Dark Arena is TITANIC RENDERS, after suffering a 18 drop in ranking. Rumor has
it an incurable disease has swept the stable of ROOKIE PINK 21. Note their drop in
the rankings from 16th to 31st. Watch out!!! The boys at DEADWOOD aren't the
happy-go-lucky bunch we all know and love, after suffering a 14 drop last week. Good
things come to those who fight well, as FAMOUS GOLFERS can attest, moving up by 8.
AVIAN AVALANCHE had cause to celebrate, after SKI BIRD IN RED got 18 points by
beating FIREKEEPER. Win some, lose some. Speaking of which, ANITA DOVEHAND was
winsome, after beating A.W. MERRICK and seeing him lose 12 points. Now I can't
insult SKELETON, as he has gloriously dueled to the top. Oh great new Duelmaster!!!
(Stop me if I lay it on too thick) Word has it one team in DWES EG is taking speech
lessons to try to bore their opponent to death. I'll bet it works.
A Zenmaster once told me, 'Does not the spinning wheel turn? And do not the
little birds cry out?' Any ideas?
Ah, the duel! The roar of the oppenent, the smell of the crowd! Ask not a
spymaster for counsel, for he will pontificate long after you have fallen into an
unconscious stupor.
