Money in the Federation

An astrum (also called a "sparkler") is a gold coin in the shape of an eight-pointed star, worth about a wagonload of wheat or one good mule. In Andorian coinage, it is roughly equivalent to a common eagle.

A bashari is an electrum (gold/silver alloy) coin, worth about one-twentieth of an astrum. The exact value depends on where it is minted. Basharis from Talcama are worth the most, while those from Mordant are worth the least.

The lytarri is a largish, gold coin, minted only in Osksi and Talcama, worth fifty to a hundred astrums, depending on the amount of gold in the coin (Talcama coins are, as usual, worth more). This coin is mostly used by wealthy merchants and banks.
