Wikipedia defines "Midwest" as: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Major cities in the Midwest are (by population): Chicago, Columbus, Indianapolis, Detroit, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Omaha, Minneapolis, Wichita, Cleveland, St. Paul, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Madison, and Des Moines.
By metro area, the biggest population centers are: Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis–St. Paul, St. Louis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Columbus.
Last Midwest FTF was in Kansas City so we should eliminate that. I am also going to eliminate Wichita for the same reason. If you draw a circle, Louisville really belongs in the Midwest, even though Kentucky doesn't... just sayin'.
Prices are rack rate for Embassy for the weekend of July 10-12 (I'm not wedded to that weekend and we can branch out from Embassy if we don't find one we like). Some are estimates because they don't have rates past May. We would obviously need to convince a hotel to host us, so take these prices with salt:
minneapolis/stpaul
- airport $120-150ish, bloomington $171
milwaukee
- brookfield $180ish
chicago (sw goes to midway)
- ord: $180-190ish, mdw $200ish
detroit
- embassy no meeting rooms, hilton garden $104
cleveland
- rockside $123 10 miles
cincinnati
- river center 8.5mi $188
indianapolis
- downtown $210???, plainfield airport $160-180
omaha,
- downtown $172,
louisville,
- downtown $217
Cincinnati looks pretty and we haven't been there, or Omaha, or Louisville. I'm hesitant about Detroit unless someone on the ground can vet the area. We were in Chicago five years ago. We've done Minneapolis a lot but it's easy to fly into, relatively inexpensive, and there's lots to do there.
I'll put up a poll if we can get it narrowed down a bit.

Personally, my top 4 choices are:
1. Detroit
2. Minny
3. Milwaukee
4. Cincy (somewhere different, though I've been there)
Of course, my choice are based on Cities with MLB teams that I haven't been to their ballpark yet. I've been to the previous Cincy ballpark, not the current one.
Of course, we usually seem to pick the MLB Allstar break, so it almost doesn't matter for my preferences.

1) Cincinnati -- only if the Reds are in town
2) Chicago
3) Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS would be awesome we up here in Wisconsin would for sure go and would bring the rest of the AA members that you have never met.
Would anyone be surprised that I vote for Cincy [since I live here]?
By the way, the Reds have a home series with the Pirates on July 10-12. They are away in Chicago on July 17-19 and home again vs the Rockies July 24-26.

Minneapolis! All the cool people want it there.

My vote is Minneapolis. We could probably have it in one of Dens spacious homes if someone could convince him to let us. I have just started discussions with the Airport Hilton. We'll see what they can offer.

Well,
Chicago and I'd make it happen regardless of what else I have going on.
So for me...
1.) Chicago
down from #1...
2.) Cincinnati
3.) St. Louis
Because I've never been to either place.
I'd be able to at least look at Detroit/Columbus/Indianapolis
Not interested in:
Minneapolis
Milwaukee (I liked the Milwaukee FTF but see no need to go back yet...)
Just my opinion!

Actually, Wayne, most of the people who seem to object to Ohio as part of the Midwest are Midwesterners from further West! We East Coasters definitely consider it to be Midwest!

I’m lazy and have the same sentiments as John.

We've been to Chicago - multiple times …
We've been to Minneapolis - multiple times …
We haven't been to Cincinnati - zero times...
And Crip needs to get to the new Reds ball park!
