2) St. Louis (although it pains me GREATLY to say it)
3) Minneapolis (a bit of a haul.....)

If the geographic center of the continental United States is somewhere in Kansas then shouldn't the MidWest actually be between some Kansas Farmer's wheat field and the Rocky Mountains?

I think that means Mr. Darkheart is inviting us all to his house for the nearly geographic center FTF this July.

I have talked with my peoples, and it is unanimous that Minneapolis is the best choice for a 2020 F2F. Obvious reasons are:
1. Cheap flights
2. So much to do in then area
3. There will be around 6-9 AA and AA affiliated attendees
4. There is a strong hope that holding it in Minneapolis would prevent Consortium from attending
5. It has not been in Minneapolis for years

These are all very positive reasons to hold the F2F in Minneapolis, especially #4.

Let's make it happen!

I have talked, and it is unanimous that the Dakotas are the best choice for a 2020 anything. Obvious reasons are:

1. Flights: Airports exist in some areas of the Dakotas

2. Livestock: For the benefit of Dense, his minions and "affiliated attendees", some of which are certainly sheep:

a. There are 5 cows to every human, ensuring the AA Minnesodomites have diverse dating choices for the entire long weekend.

b. South Dakota is the #3 producer of flax in the nation. This is particularly relevant to our AA crew because they can use the same plant for both their salad dressing and linen, so it's just like being at home.

3. There's a reason it has not been in Minneapolis for years. Mall of America is both a national embarrassment and a terrorist target. It's also just been put up as collateral for a much better located New Jersey destination. My, that's awkward.

4. The Dakotas are known for their double occupancy rooms, so Dense and Consortium should be able to spend the weekend nuzzling and having angry, make-up relations and, with luck, leave of us out their lovers spats moving forward.

5. It's never been in the Dakotas.

6. Fargo and its renowned Woodchipper Museum. Also, the museum offers an optional seminar by William H Macy on how to strategically advance your kids' college careers.

7. Gentle Ben's relatives own and operate the Bullock Hotel in Deadwood.

8. Dinosaur Park is just badass and should help Dense feel better about his age.

Can't do it, the Dakotas are closed in July, they won't let anyone in. Drat! It's like this brilliantly written diatribe is all for naught. Damn it!

Perhaps if Den were to be shipped to the Dakotas, I would consider attending in Minny.

But Cincy is so obvious, I cannot change my lobby.

Detroit Embassy DOES have meeting rooms! The airport is 10-15 minute drive outside of Detroit.

We got casinos for the all niters who want to gamble play Texas Hold Em against live fish (easy to beat. If you can't find the mark/fish at the table it's probably you)!

Not necessarily trying to nix Detroit; after all, some DM players already own guns.... BUT, just to level set across all locations, we typically want 1500+ sq ft of space in the game room. For example, in DC, we had just under 2K sq ft. 1500 is a tight fit based on past experiences.

The Detroit Embassy Suites appears to have about 1100 in their main room:

Michigan Room 1,100 44.00' x 25.00

So, wherever we are trying to land, the hotel will need to have north of 1500 contiguous square feet and ideally closer to 2000. It may very well be the Detroit Embassy Suites has adjoining rooms to the Michigan Room (they don't appear to have a map of the rooms on their site) so it may still be an option. But as people advocate different cities, it might help to know the meeting room landscape.

Just as an example, * cough *, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pierre-Fort Pierre in South Dakota has a room that should work.

Not sayin', just sayin... Dakotas for the win!!!

1) Minneapolis
2) Detroit (don't think we've ever been there)
3) Indy

Was asked to post this update from Chat:

theDarkOne: That Minnesota FTF SUCKED. Stuck in a shit hotel in the parking lot of a big ass mall - basically trapped so all you could do/see/eat at was that mall.18:55

theDarkOne: Awful.18:55

Vlad: you, uh, might want to add your vote about the FTF location to the forum thread...18:56

theDarkOne: My vote is on there.18:56

theDarkOne: Not going back to Minnesota regardless...18:56

Vlad: But it lacks the color of your statement abovce!18:56

theDarkOne: Just don't have an interest to return. Especially when we've been there 2x and there are MANY other options.

not that any of you wealthy bastards gives a turd, but if it isn't held in Minny, or Wisco, I wont be attending for some time. Having just bought my first house, back in march, and basically becoming my galfriend's 3 kids' stepdad, and also having our own munchkin, in May(yes we are living in sin...oh the shame), has strapped me for extra playing cash for the foreseeable future. I could win the MegaMillions, or the powerball, but that wont happen until I'm damn near 100.....("so you're saying there's a chance?!")

Sorry you won't be able to make it. But it certainly seems you are investing your money in far better things. Kudos.

Wait, did someone really just say "the Dakotas!??"

Ok, so I realize it was a joke and all, but Fargo is actually a pretty cool place. Maybe not a lot for some of you to do, but there is cool nightlife and stuff. And the population is around 250,000 even if you don't count the sheep. (Sheep?! I don't remember seeing any sheep around here!) Really, you should give it a try! Give it a try and stop using my home as a punch-line!

As for other options - Minneapolis would likely be the only chance I get to one. But I'd go to that.
