And we have a new leader! Segue Cartel, with a power move, slips past World Blades 4 and is now on top! Secret Squirrels again with crazy upchallenges leaps up into 3rd. And The Delirium Rules goes 5-0 to make a nice little rally after missing several turns early. Still anyone's game!

Turn NINE!!! 4 more to go.
ANOTHER power move by Death By Design and they leap into 2nd place, just 20 behind our leader. Secret Squirrels, who had a fairly poor turn offset by one huge upchallenge, is in a solid 3rd just 11 points in back of DBD. Just behind THEM World Blades lurks with 269 points. And Devil Advocates moves back into contention, rounding out our top 5.
But don't sleep on Darque Souls who had a power turn of their own and was second on the turn with 53 points OR Friend or Foe, our winner from last time, who is lurking just out of the top 5.

I just noticed that you miscounted points for my team THE DELIRUM RULES: 199+38 points makes 237, fortunately, rather than 227.
having altready missed the first 2 turns, I cannot afford missing those extra 10 points

With 2 more turns to go, moves are being made. Strong turns by The Delirium Rules, who everyone forgot about after missing the first 2 turns and another team who shall remain nameless out of modesty are shaking things up. As we've seen, mega turns can be had, numbers can change and this contest is FAR from over. Good luck to all in the tournament and we'll see you next turn!

With one more turn to go plenty of bold (or foolish) challenges are being made and points are adding up. Most of our leaderboard stayed the same, but the Delirium Rules leaped up into the top 5. Considering they missed the first 2 turns, they STILL have a chance to place anywhere in the top 3 and get a reward.

Ladies and Gentlemen -
The 2ND SEMI-ANNUAL ARVAT CONTEST EXTRAORDINAIRE is officially OVER! Below you will find the final standings for ALL contestants. But first some notes on each team and a sincere thanks for all 15 teams that participated. This was a really strange contest with COVID mail issues causing challenges for many teams. We have to thank RSI for being accommodating with taking last minute calls to run turns, giving updates as to if turns arrived, etc. I am sure Sandy and Lee will be glad not to be getting my emails every 2 weeks: "Did my Arvat turn make it in???" But I hope you all had fun. I feel this contest was even more exciting and closer than the last time and I am hoping we have more contestants next time and even better competition.
Also - I want to ask all participants to please e-mail me or PM me on chat with your thoughts as to what you liked about the contest, anything you didn't like and also any suggestions for next time to make the contest better. I think we added a few things from the first time that made this one stronger all around and hope to continue to do so.
Notes on the contest teams, in reverse order:
(PLEASE EVERYONE CHECK YOUR SCORES - I DOUBLE CHECKED AND EVEN ADDED POINTS FOR STUFF I MISSED, BUT LET ME KNOW IF I HOSED YOU ACCIDENTALLY, ESPECIALLY IF IT AFFECTS THE SUPER CLOSE CHASE FOR 3RD PLACE!)
Apocalypse - this was the only team that bailed out and quit. I'm hoping it was just due to mailing frustrations and I hope you join up again next time. As we will see, we had many teams that missed a turn (or more) early and rallied, so I think you could have gotten back in it.
Trillium 12 - Tough contest for Khisanth - I feel like he never got his feet under him to get going. And just as he started moving up, he had a bunch of deaths and never got any warriors to replace them. However knowing him I have no doubt he will get a team set up and will be in the thick of things for the next contest.
Den of Thieves - Another team that really didn't get on track here. Despite having one strong warrior in Slim Jim, the other team members didn't really contribute much. I am guessing a house cleaning is coming for the Den and hope they will be back and be stronger next contest.
Strange Interlude - this team started out pretty good - with some good movement and actively challenging. I was expecting them to be in the mix but they never seemed to have that one big turn with successful challenges to vault them into the mix. I just don't know enough about them to comment more. In fact - I don't even know who managed them!
Darque Souls - well, Darque joined and admitted his team wasn't really ready. Which showed early, though he did get some easy points for Unchartered rec leader. Gotta give him points for continuing to DA, field a team and make some good challenges throughout the contest. Guessing his team will be in much better shape next time around.
Bootes - OAB took some heavy losses early, and late... and was another team that just didn't get itself into a rhythm. Every time I thought they might, a bunch of guys died. He kept going though and had some decent turns to get the points going up despite tough circumstances. No question OAB will get the team built or bring in a new one for next time.
Iron Cathedral - DD had a really rough team in the first contest and for this one those guys had developed into veterans. He had some good turns and kept building his team. This team is one to watch next time with the mix of old guys who can be sneaky good and younger guys.
Errata - This was one of our boom or bust teams. JE had some really strong turns, including several in the middle of the contest to get right in the thick of things, and then had a huge final turn with 88 points - another top 5 point total for the contest. This team, possibly more than any other, embraced the upchallenge philosophy and consistently made challenges of 20+ points. However he also had a bunch of turns where the challenges weren't going through and he just couldn't score. Next time Errata will be a team to watch!
Secret Squirrels - Our other boom or bust team. GB is the master of the squirrel sneak attack. They were in the mix early and hung in the top 5 most of the contest, but I think some deaths and the talent level of the squad hurt a bit. Still, he's the team I avoid almost every turn because you just don't know when he's coming after you, what he's bringing and what's going to happen! He's also the reason for the contest, since he harasses me mercilessly when he feels it's time to have one...
The Delirium Rules - The competitor of the contest, La G missed several turns early, never gave up and flew up the rankings late, making it into 3rd place with one turn to go. Well played, well done. If I could give an extra award for competitive spirit, it goes here. Hmm. Maybe we will add something for that for next time!
Death By Design - In it from the beginning to the end, Bubba also missed a turn and still was charging hard. He had some issues with few challenge options, turns he didn't get his challenges in but his team was always there. He pulled the turn of the contest with 119 points, which is HUGE, and at least gets rewarded for that. He could easily be 2nd without that missed turn.
Friend or Foe? - Last contest's winner, Mannequin had a less stout squad this time out and it hurt early. Still, he rallied and came on strong, finishing just outside the top 3 with a bullet. Given 5 more turns he'd be up in the lead. He had some poor challenge options for a good part of the tournament but was always competitive and always dangerous. He will be in the heart of the contest next time.
World Blades 4 - Another ultra competitive team from turn 1 on, Madwand's World Blades team was right in the mix. One interesting note is I could NEVER get a challenge through on one of them. Not once. He was our early leader, dropped back then came on strong and ended up 3rd. Congrats to our Honorable Contender, and well done!
Segue Cartel - Riding the most powerful squad in the contest, complete with several strong TV contenders, Manager was all over the contest. He combined clever and intelligent upchallenges with TV challenges with strategic skills. His team also peaked at the right time. The question is - if he hadn't held his studs a couple of times for tourneys, would his upchallenges have been better than the points for the TVs he won? In any case - congratulations to Manager, our RUNNER UP!!!!
Devil Advocates - Well, this is embarassing. I don't really want to be immodest, but hey.. After a really poor showing in the first contest, I thought my team was a little better, had more experience and would perform better this time out. I certainly didn't expect to win. My biggest issue always seems to be the inability to get my challenges through and score points in bunches. And despite an early lead and being near the top early, my team of arena quality warriors was dropping late - and then luckily for 2 turns I was able to sneak in some challenges, win them and leaped up the rankings. Going into the last turn I held a solid lead, but with the tournament and Manager sending at least 2 of his and both being TC contenders... Plus having no good challenges for my entire team... I was hoping just to hold on... And did. So I guess I win! Yay me!
Again, thanks for competing! I had fun (and not only because of fluking into a win) and hope you all did too. Hope to see you all in 2 years, give or take.
GB - please give me at least 6 months before sending your squirrels to badger me about when the next contest is!
Oh - one last thing - I post prize choices here later, so stay tuned.
Also - if you qualify for the longevity bonus potion - Fight all 13 turns and no fewer than 62 fights total - let me know - I will double check and let RSI know. This is the lazy man's way of doing this and next time I will add a tracker for it but didn't and would rather start with a list than manually go back and tally. Thanks!
