Some time ago…
The Hall of Honor of the Brotherhood of the Blade stood silent. Three shadowy figures sat at the long obsidian table reviewing documents and scribbling signatures. The first figure wore casual clothing and kicked his feet up onto the table resting his paperwork on an old book to read it. This was Bubbaganoosh, newest member of the Brotherhood and he was tired of the others referring to him as ‘the newbie.’ The second figure was decked out like a scientist, if an eccentric one, and he was scribbling on separate sheets of paper with both hands. Years past he had quaffed a potion of ambidexterity meant for one of his gladiators with the expectation that he could do double the work in half the time. He was the manager known as Manager, sometimes Managerr, and he was the current scribe of the group. The final figure, black robed and hooded sat at the head of the table, his twisted wooden staff resting against the massive unlit stone fireplace behind him. This was the Dark One, wizard and keeper of secrets. Since neither of the others wanted the title of Grand High Moose it had fallen to him, yet again, and holding the office rankled. His mood was as dark as his shadowy hood.
“Once again, our numbers have dwindled. It is difficult to run contests and dominate arenas with only three members,” the Dark One grumbled, gazing against the far wall where relics of previous members rested on a handsomely carved bookshelf.
His eyes moved over these well-known items – the leather racing suit of Mad Max, the hourglass of The Sandman, Caesar’s plumed helmet, the Toe-Shoes of Rillion, one of the suits of armor of one of Rascally Rabbit’s tank lungers, Zalgor Prigg’s monocle, the notebook of Tig Toad, complete with how to and how NOT to design strikers and finally, most recently, a waffle iron belonging to Grimm. The last item had been given to Grimm as a joke, given his penchant for retiring and then returning to the games.
Once the hall had been bustling – seven members all seated, attending tournaments and committed to alliance business. Now, things were quiet. Dull.
The Dark One continued, “It is time to expand.”
Manager looked up and slowly nodded. “Perhaps. Khisanth isn’t completely retired. He may yet dabble. And The Greek Guy plans on returning once his brood has moved on in the world. So, it’s not as if we don’t have the possibility of those stalwarts returning to the fold.”
Bubba cracked his knuckles. “Dabble. MAYBE returning… that doesn’t do much for us if we want to run a contest. When was the last time we did football playoffs contest? Five years? More?”
Manager glanced sideways at the Dark One, “I do agree that our recent result of 6-3 against “The World” in tournament grudge matches left a lot to be desired.”
The Dark One grumbled and continued, glossing over the fact that both of his warriors in the grudge match contest lost, “It’s hard to do ANY of the things we like to do with only three members. I’d like to see five active members. At least.”
“It doesn’t help that you two are ridiculously picky.” Bubba commented.
Manager smiled, “Not THAT picky… We chose you… after all…”
Bubba cracked his knuckles again and rose, “Why you…”
Manager raised his hand, “Joking! Joking!”
Bubba smiled, then turned to the Dark One, “So who did you have in mind?”
A chuckle emanated from deep within the cowl. “I have had several thoughts, but one of my choices isn’t all that keen on being in an Alliance. However - I have one that I feel would be a solid fit, and we have co-opted him before for the Brotherhood vs. The World competition. His dossier is in front of you. Let’s discuss.”
Recently in the mystical realm known as Alexandria
The clink of plates and glassware was only surpassed by the noise of patrons jesting, laughing and conversing as the Brotherhood of the Blade seated themselves at the central table of a fine local restaurant. The Dark One’s concubine had selected the place and chose well, earning a reward.
The members of the Alliance, plus the aforementioned concubine sat and perused the menu. To the left of the Dark One was seated a handsome manager with a fine, well-groomed beard. If things went well, he was to be the newest member of the Brotherhood.
The group spoke casually and ordered, the Alliance and the Dark One’s consort all ordered some of the fine veal dishes from the extensive menu. The newcomer ordered chicken. All drank various libations and then moved onto a ruby red Italian wine as they moved on with the meal.
Conversation turned to the recent tournament and then to the thinned ranks of the Brotherhood of the Blade. Finally, the Dark One called for an official vote. “For us to add a member it must be a unanimous vote of the active members of the alliance. Officially – how do you vote?”
Both Bubbaganoosh and Manager nodded and said, “Aye.”
The Dark One nodded as well. “Very well. Dameon Darkheart – we hereby offer you membership in the Brotherhood of the Blade. What say you?”
Darkheart took a moment, smiled, and said, “I accept.”

Note: There is a SIGNIFICANT error in the BOB posting. Beware of untruths.
The recent score of BOB vs, The World was 5-3.
Manager, an often-fudging fellow credited BoB with two points for winning the final fight making his exaggerated score 6-3. The factuality is that the score was a barely winning 5-3. Manager forgot, or decided to ignore, the rule that the last fight only counts as two if the final would have been 4-4 (making that final winner's team the winner at 5-4.) So indeed, that makes the true score a mere 5-3.
The error, or untruth, leads one to wonder about the validity of the whole epiphany, and whether or not it is true that DD was truly admitted to the BoB or whether it was a mere continuation of the exaggeration or ruse?
Personally, we hope the D.D.-to-Bob is true as he seems a better fit there than to that dung heap which he was previously considered associated.

True words, nobody liked the Inner Circle, even those doomed to live within its confines.

"Brotherhood of the Blade Alliance matters..."
it does?

Or, as the records would show, the last fight read by Boss Rat involved DD's Freshmen falling to Crip's TP. So by Managerr logic, that fight counted double, so the final tally was a meekly eked out 5-4 win for Bob who couldn't win it on their own.

I think that last fight just felt like it counted as two… 😆

I just appreciated the irony that it was DD and Crip with the scumfest, not Manager and Consortium.
