I talked about my roster and hopefuls in a previous post in this thread: www.reality.com/duel2/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=8977

----------

Champions

I thought this was my best chance to TC, and it turned out that I was correct.

It wasn't easy, though. MUKTUK took an early loss to DEATH STALKER, a TDO ST. In the first 5 rounds learning skills, he picked up 6, including his last 2 Attack and 1 of his last 2 Defense. He then picked up a ST train and a CN train by the run-offs. In R10, MUKTUK faced CHEESEGASM, a TDO SL, and won in a close fight. In R11, MUKTUK lost to BAT MASTERSON, a TDO LU. I knew TDO's entries would be tough, and they were. Since MUKTUK had already faced the three remaining TDO warriors, he got a matchup against VILLIAGE YUPPIE, then a standby. By the time he was forced into a repeat match-up, it was against CHEESEGASM in the finals. There was some back and forth, but CHEESEGASM couldn't land a blow in this one and MUKTUK won the TC.

MUKTUK finished up as a 16(1)-9(1)-3-21-21-5-11 with 162 total skills, which appeared to be just enough to TC, but low enough to probably allow him to run in Challengers until his next TV.

ADM

KAPPA LEONIS looked good, but came up just short of a TV. He finished at 7-3. Not bad for an expedient bust-out of a 17-21 LU.

Contenders and Primus

This was a tale of two classes.

Primus was the worst. My win % in the class was 37%. My best performances were two 4-3s. Of my five stylemaster hopefuls, three were tied for the best record but lost out on FE tiebreakers. So I ended without my first Primus TV and without any stylemasters to show for my effort.

Contenders was almost the best. My newest entry struggled and went 2-3, but my four veterans went 11-3, 9-3, 7-3, and 7-3. That's rock solid. With each AB that wins and moves on to Primus, I can feel my warriors inching closer to that final fight.

Rookies and Dead Initiates

I wasn't expecting to do well in these classes, although I entered competitive warriors all across the board, but I had great runs in both.

In Rookies, I went 13-3-4 with an EP wielding AB named EBLA. Sure, I was aiming for the head. What else are you supposed to do with an 8 ST AB who is using the EP against everyone? He seemed to like the weapon, and he seemed to love sticking it into peoples' eye sockets. And if you love what you do, it doesn't even feel like work.

In Dead Initiates, I entered a 10 FE Striker with a slightly unorthodox design (9-14-6-21-9-8-17) who was +4 Def and Def learn. She had TV'd Apprentices before dying in R1 of an Initiates tourney, so I knew she had some moxie, but I wasn't expecting her to do as well as she did. She went in with an AdEx in Defense and no Decise rating, and the lack of Strikers in the dead tournies helped her out considerably. She jumped people. She ran some over. Sometimes she dodged and riposted. She learned really well and killed some people. It was pretty wild. She eventually made it to the finals against BILL LONEY, Madwand's LU, who she had beaten once already in R13. She got the jump, got in two hits, but BILL LONEY dodged, riposted, and landed three attacks to finish her. She ended up with the runner-up and a 12-3-2 record.

----------

When the sand settled, my 66 entries had gone 274-197-13-3 (58% win), won a TC, a RU, and 8 TVs (15% award), and 6 stylemasters. This was a great tourney for me, and was especially welcome since I won't be attending Tempe and will only be sending a light crew by proxy. Hopefully I can coast on this good feeling for six months.

Congrats to all the winners. I enjoyed the tourney and look forward to matching up with you again soon.

If I calculate award % (TV = 1, TC = 2)
then my (5/31) @ 16.1%
is my best tournament ever.

An interesting (at least to me) summary of one of my Dead Challengers who TV'd and became mortal (again)

started 15-5-21-17-6-11 Striker (Norm/Good) +4 Init n 2009

- only tourneys with awards (or death) -
TV Jan 2010 (Appr)
TV Apr 2010 (Init)
TV Nov 2010 (Cham)
TV Jul 2012 (Chal)
Killed Oct 2012 (Chal)
TV Oct 2022 (Chal)

Is now
18-6-9-21-19-9-13 and skill maxed
(and still norm/good)
