Hey hey!

Excited to play but very much lost in the weeds. My rolls:

A) 10 - 12 - 5 - 11 - 11 - 13 - 8

B) 13 - 9 - 12 - 4 - 13 - 9 - 10

C) 8 - 6 - 11 - 17 - 9 - 12 - 7

D) 10 - 10 - 14 - 12 - 8 - 12 - 4

E) 8 - 13 - 15 - 9 - 3 - 9 - 13

I notice a couple things:
- C and A have the highest combined WT/WL at 26 and 22 respectively, which I think implies they are my best candidates if I can keep them alive.
- I am very excited by C, but I have no idea if it's worth pumping into WL to push it further or if he isn't viable if I don't put love on the abysmal ST/CN. And I have no idea how to think about fighting styles, but 'striker' intuitively sounds right.
- A seems like less of a slam dunk but more likely to survive. I was thinking tune up WT/WL a bit, and the rest to CN/SP for with an Aimed Blow style or Slasher
- Is E even worth keeping with WT/WL that low? Maybe I'm over-valuing those traits, it just seems like E would be very slow to develop. I'm not sure what to do w/ this combination of large size and deftness.
- Totally at a loss w/ B and D. Any advice very welcome.

Grateful for any thoughts and advice! I haven't looked forward to getting mail in a very long time and I'm eager to get started.

You have a better RU sheet than most.
Treasure it!

It takes a long time to advise on design, but perhaps some will give you their opinion. (Note; There is no ONLY best design.)

The Consortium policy is not to provide design comments unless the owner first offers what he/she thought they should do. (and posts those designs)

BUT:

Go to past issues of DM93 newsletters (on this site) and every9th or 10th NL is a "design parameter" concept. (Both Assur and The Consortium offer advice and help in the form of mentoring there.)

I also suggest you start this/a team in DM93 which is the "starter" arena where you will learn/get advice/etc and then can transfer the team to wherever you want after 10 turns.

So, check out DM93 NLs. (It will be well worth your time to reas the past 10 or so.)

Welcome to Duelmasters! I see you found your way to the Chatzy online forum. That's a great way to get advice.

I agree that C is your best potential warrior. 21 WT Strikers can win a lot, and your guy is very close to some important break points:

WT 21 for the skills bonanza there. And the high WT will help your warrior improve quickly, even early in his career.

ST 11 DF 11 for weapons suitability.

That puts you at 11-6-11-21-9-12-11 with 2 more points to add. Personally, I'd run this guy hot (10-10) and Decis modified to get the jump and end the fight quickly.

The others are a bit tougher to design and I'd recommend asking Chatzy for help there.

Definitely recommend you put your first team in arena 93. There are helpful, knowledgeable managers there who will answer your questions and (as Wayne said) there are a lot of good articles posted each NL on design, strategy, etc.

Good luck! See you in Chatzy, and on the sands.

E) 8 - 13 - 15 - 9 - 3 - 9 - 13

If you found your way to Chatzy, you'll have all the design input you could desire. But I saw the first warrior and wanted to throw out how I would design it:

A) 11-12-5-17-17-14-8 Slasher. Those stats give you access to the hatchet and broadsword, which are great against light / medium and heavy armor respectively. There is a chance he doesn't roll "normal" damage and gets stuck with little, which is terrible, but you could likely train out of it by training ST to 12 if that happens. But if it rolls normal, that would be a tourney-caliber warrior from my standpoint.

B) 17-13-12-5-17-9-11 Total Parry or "scum". APM/F, ME/ME, 1-1-5-Parry tactic.

C) I would design as 11-6-11-21-12-12-11 Striker. Should roll Poor endurance (which is ok for the style) and good damage. P/G is typically fine for STs. 11 Initiative, 7 Attack and 11 Decise skills should do well for you in the non-tourney environment and perhaps even decently in a tourney.

The others I am not sure I would bother with.

Welcome to the game and good luck! Echo the Arena 93 suggestion.

Welcome to a great game. This site is a great resource:

http://www.noblishisland.info/index.htm#ROW3

This site is also very helpful for checking new warrior designs and tracking styles of your opponents.

Enjoy, it is a wonderfully frustrating and fun game.

Note: the next issue of DM93 will have an article dedicated to design. Should appear a week from Monday.
