Very, very fine, TMM. Salute!

It wasn't an attack on you. As you said I was simply using your post to make a point and yeah go off on a few tangents. Sorry if you misread it. As my boys in The Iron Council will attest this is a twice a year bitch-fest from me come Mailer time... I just publicly broadcasted it this time your post was simply the one I attached to and did a lil venting. Next time I get cranky I'll reply without quotes. Sorry for the confusion.

I actually find it funner with NO Spoilers and waiting on the mail with no knowledge of the results. But I started playing before the internet age and can appreciate the fun of reading the fights line by line(even if you have a crappy tourney its the suspense...kind of like the Face only cheaper.. well nothing is like a Face but having patience and waiting on your results(and I had regular mail and got mine today) instead of being like a kid in a candy store screaming "give me, give me, give me". Oh well different strokes for different folks and to those that didnt play before the internet age I guess I cant really fault you cause you dont know any better. Personally I would love to see a No Spoilers rule put in place on this website but alas I am in the minority. It was extremely difficult but I stayed away from this thread until I read my results. Alot of people dont have that willpower and there tourney enjoyment would be strengthened with a no spoilers rule in place and thus their staying power in this game would be 10 fold. Oh well I'm just a grumpy old bastard pissing in the wind here. Congrats to the winners!
I think you had a message to say, it's just too bad you chose my post to speak it. I feel my post was far from a kid in the candy store if you notice my quote I used...

The the type of threads I talking about that made the last tourney, (which is an opinion, or a testimony of personal experience ), is a far cry from the way you are making it out to be. Let me quote Glenn Beck for a second with this, "Americans like their statistics". I find this very true, I love to hear how some did well and other didn't... yes I am cheering on some mgrs.
anyways man I hope you get what you want out of this forum.
But hell while Im on it I must address what you just said. In actuallity it is NOT a far cry from what I am making it out to be. And its not your post in particular that the analogy of the "kid in the candy store crying give me, give me" came from. Its the repeated posts from managers requesting Spoilers. Its the start of TC list when perhaps some managers havent even gotten their results yet(doubt that was the case in this tourney though with TMM and Manager snagging most of the TC's), its the network of people reading the spoilers who might inadvertantly ruin it for someone else by saying something innocent to them that they read in the Spoilers page. Its the, and I will use The Iron Councils Turf War team-mate Seraphin as an example cause I feel he wont mind. But its scanning the TC/TV list BEFORE you even look at the first fight to see if any of your teams are on it. Its getting your results in(and this can apply to regular turns also not just tourneys) and jumping to the bottom to see if your warrior won/lost and what skills/stats was trained. I could go on and on and on. Its the getting next day service(mail in parties I can understand).... I mean for crying out loud one of the few things RSI has not been dragging their feet on is mailing out the results in an expediant matter. Most people got their results only 2-3 days later than the next day'ers(I remember when it used to be 2 weeks or so after the next dayers). I dont understand the need to pay extra for next day with that type of turnaround. Than the next dayers putting the results on the website while alot of peoples results were still in the mail! Im not condeming anyone. Its an open forumn and clearly titled spoilers but the problem is most people do not have the willpower to stay away from the spoilers and God forbid someone who is gets there results ruined by someone elses email(the story of my first TC experience ruined when I knew the results before I even got them from an email after avoiding the spoilers). I just feel that the game would be better served if there were no spoilers posted and most people(unless they are going to mail-in parties which again is a completly different thing.) would have more enjoyment of the mailer tourneys. But again it is there "choice" to be spoiled by opening and reading the thread.
For the record I am not one of those saying that Basic is better than the tourneys or vice versa. Personally I enjoy both and have had success at both with a small budget(although nowhere near the success of the small budget king of kings Sandman).
I guess Im like one of those old geezers sitting on the porch bitching about the old days. Any rate thats my longwinded vent.
It really sounds like the best thing for you, or those feeling similar, is not to read the spoilers. Wouldn't that solve all this?

Yep! When I agreed, I didn't think it was an argument. * shrug *
And grats to TMM and everyone who TC'd / TV'd!

Actually, he wasn't scum, he just couldn't swing worth crap yet. Congrats.

18 sent. 3 were not tourney quality (sent just for some skills for the arena). Went 80-54-0-1, 59.7%. 1TV, 5.6%. And a whole lotta 7-3, 6-3.

I just had by far the worst tournament that I have ever seen. I sent 12, a large group for me. No awards, no real shock there. 4 Dead. A 33% death rate.
The dead:
A Duelmaster 1 fight from one graduation: 11(+2)-7(+1)-9-21-15-9-15 Lunger.
Striker 13-13-4-21-7-15-11
Aimer 5-9-9-10-15-15-10-21
Striker 11-7-9-17-17-12-11
Aimers die, 7 will warriors die. But all at once? Three rookies sent, three dead.
At least the other 8 did fairly well (sent for skills) - most were .500 or better. Top result was 6-3 with a nice little OTP.
I'm almost ready to swear off these dumb things! Ok, maybe not quite..
That's some serious pain there, my friend. Good thing we couldn't get together for a tourney party, we might have been seriously depressed!

It was! Thanks! Now that I know John has read his stuff (looks like a good tourney for him), I'll blab:

One of the TCs I'm most proud of, just because in this "21-DF only" AB world, I think I'm one of the few people who makes warriors like this, much less enter them into tourneys.

My 1st tourney back was solid. I sent 26 and pulled 6 TVs.
For your first tourney back, I'd say that's more than solid, that's awesome!
Hope to see you guys in Atlanta.
Thanks for sharing your rookies TC numbers, Dwayne. I remember when you were talking about this type of design a while back, and have been keeping my eye out for a rollup to match, but haven't gotten one like that yet. Congrats!!!

Completly missed my point. I don't read the spoilers until after I have read my fights. Others dont. It's easier said than done. Im not gonna ramble again.. I just personally feel it would be better for the game if Spoilers werent even an option. And there really is nothing to solve.. I was just venting my frustration over the new age of the game...nothing more, nothing less, just an cranky old-timer(in terms of game play that is) going off bout the good ole days.

Sent 10 and came up 31-31-2 1TV and no dead. So, I met my goals by the least amount possible (10% award rate and 50+% w/l).

Sent 15 ended up 37-40-2 with 1 TV. Didnt know what to expect being my first tourney but seems to have turned out ok.

Just a note of curiosity. I have frequently heard about the infamous flail bouncing off of skin. In this tournament I had a situation in which a scimitar bounced off of bare skin. Is that as unusual as I think it is?
