I just had a warrior get a Master rating in Initiative for the second time.
She got the rating the first time when she raised SP to 6 (which should give an Init skill, right?) and the second time when she raised SP to 7 (which should not give an Init skill, right?)
Has this occurred to anyone else? Should I assume that the first SP raise have been undone somehow? |

Did this warrior run in a tourney? I've had many that learn the skills in the tourney and seem to relearn them in the regular arena. Very annoying, since it brings into question: Why did I pay $7.00 for the tourney, only to have the skills not "stick" and then have to relearn them? |

She has run in a few tourneys but the first time she gained the Master rating in Initiative was in Primus and the second time was in Free Blades. |

We have seen stuff like this in the past, especially with my old or dead warriors. A few years ago I realized I had been using an outdated stat trains/skill learn chart. Since then, I've been using the one off of Terrablood and I have written all weird stuff off to old bookkeeping and that chart or my own error. It also seems that it was usually an Init skill that was in question. |

It could be that 1 INI skill nobody has ever truly pinned down, though I've never seen an INI happen at 7 SP (after 6; 9 is the next INI skill) on any style I've run, but something might've been lost in the jump down from Primus to ADM-level. If that Master came in it's VERY last Primus fight maybe it didn't "stick" and then Lee or Sandy double checked it and manually gave it back to you at 7 SP. Especially if it was an OLD warrior that hadn't fought in years, or maybe if they moved a couple back they might've decided to manually check them to be sure nothing funky happened because usually once your in Primus your IN Primus. |

It is an RSI conspiracy. Perhaps Sandy fired a shot from the grassy knoll? |

I guess I'll know more when I receive minis for Free Blades. In case the SP raise didn't stick, that would explain it all.
If it brings any more clarity, I can add the following information:
- Her SP was raised to 6 in turn 159 of Primus (back in the Gateway days).
- She continued to fight until turn 165 of Primus.
- She came back about 10 yrs down the road and fought her first time after the hiatus in turn 514 of Free Blades.
I still have all the print outs from the fights so I am sure it's not a clerical error on my behalf. |

Something's fishy. During the tourney she got adv masters in att, par and def from the same DF bump. The weird thing was that the DF was raised to 19 (no skills there, right?) and also that she should have needed 3 more attack skills, 4 more parry and 2 more defense to get those ratings.
How accurate is terrablood's skill chart? |

More accurate than that. I am willing to bet it is a record keeping error somewhere. |

I contacted Sandy to get an overview and things have gotten clearer.
The explanation for the duplicate Master rating in Initiative turned out to be that the first speed raise didn't stick. Somewhere along the way it got lost. So both the first and second speed raise were from SP 5 to SP 6, giving the same skills and the same rating.
The unexpected Adv Master ratings were due to a clerical error on my behalf. Or rather, I seem to have lost one or more tourneys among the print outs. During that or those tourneys my warrior had managed to raise her DF 3 times (and WL once), which I had no record of. So she didn't go from DF 17 to 20 during the tourney but from 20 to 23. My bad! |
