Started out as a SC/Finesse/Sweeper type, and spent his first ~200 matches or so hovering around 66% wins, then he hit the top bracket and I couldnt buy a win anymore. Finesse got extremely expensive and upgrading it seemed to do nothing for me. I got outdamaged/armored by the heavy guys, and outjumped by the stunners. In retrospect perhaps I gave up on it a bit too soon though.
'Spent the rest of his career experimenting with different skills, but can't say that I really learned much other than confirming that mystery performance bump that raising anticipation seems to give you. I don't really know WHY I started winning more when I raised it, I just know I did.
I doubt I'll ever try a weap/shield combo again. There really didnt seem to be any upside to using both, or at the very least nowhere near enough to motivate the points spent.

I barely noticed Finesse when I used it too. I started to notice it around level 5, but it was only a slight boost.

Is anybody finding "favorites" like DM does with individual warriors?
I've tried making replicas of successful warriors and they seemed to fight differently with identical strategies. Some warriors seem to fight like total s... um crap at 7 or 9 offensive effort but are awesome at 8. And it tends to last, in my experience, throughout a warrior's career and not just at periods or levels of their progress.
I'm still baffled, BTW, at how Manager "managed" to work an 80% W/L with an almost average looking Potato Bug.

Meant to say something bout that too. Was completely underwhelmed by the template (although there might well be something there I'm not picking up on). Very nice managing there!

I'm not sure there. Just a combination of "Good Skills", I would guess. Tower Shield has the best Parry in the game. Shield Bash is great since it's attack % and damage isn't dependent on offensive effort. Haste is an overall good skill--so with the best parry in the game, combined with me throwing more attacks (Several of which were shield bashes), the math is in my favor against all melee types. Against Fire/Ice Mages I tended to just be faster than they were or can scum them. Small Weapon Jolters were my biggest weakness, but even then I still did ok as I was often fast enough to shake off the stuns before they could finish me off.
I definitely need to try the template again when I get the right build to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I think in general, I'm smarter with training too, as that's been my secret to rising up the ranks from where I was a few months ago. (Battling to stay at .500)

I have gone opposite. Dumb guys let me control their development. LOl makes it easier to keep them in the target areas I want to fight then move them up.

No, I mean I got smarter (as a manager) on how to train my guys.

Who is Robert Brown and why do I keep seeing so many variations on his name as a manager?
Also, I'm liking the Claymore. The W/L is crap with my warrior, but I've already racked up 3 kills.
I was at .500 for like 8 minutes a week ago . . . down hill since, but I'm enoying it. I like to challenge the warriors that have these 5-10 fight win streaks going to see if I can break it.

That one is going to break the game some day. My guess is she's already sitting on close to 3k unspent xp, and has the "bust out potential" to destroy at the very least the consecutive wins record. If the manager just keeps sandbagging her I guess we'll get to see how much xp alone it takes to graduate someone, and unless xp-earned is the main reason for graduation (which to it doesnt look like it is) she should be able to make a serious run at the gauntlet.

He took a while to develop, like most mages. However I think I spread out his magic learns a bit too much and should have focused on a single line instead. The problem was that during his development, the stage 2 and 3 spells started coming out for each line and I was too tempted to try them all out, which in retrospect probably wasn't best.

Started off trying to stay focused on one avenue of training. Then started some losing streaks and got off track. Hence points all over the place. I thought Smurfkilla would have a decent chance in the Gauntlet but was eliminated in the first fight. At the end couldn't keep Big Mac out of he Championship fights due to his recognition points and he went before I was ready. Plus forgot to change one thing before his first gauntlet fight which he lost. Back to the drawing board.

Just a normal Ice Armor Scum type. He suffered a little in the middle of his career when I played around with making him an Ice Mage type, but when he got back to scumming he started to win again.
Ice Armor doesn't seem to improve in absorb % as levels go up, but it's hard to tell. I'd recommend Tower Shield or Spike Shield in place of Kite Shield too.
My first gauntlet fight was as good as won, *sigh*, but of course my shield broke and I couldn't draw my backup.
