My question is really simple: why is skill learning in Primus so poor?

I have one warrior in Primus so my data is not so reliable but she was a great learner in Basic, averaged 2.3 skills per fight with a 17 WT.

She is now a 25 WT 118 FE and I thought her skill learning would be through the roof in Primus. So far it has been:

2 skills against 322 visible FE
1 skill against 60 visible FE
5 skills against 161 visible FE
3 skills against 436 visible FE

As you can see, the learning is ok, but with a 25 WT and against that opposition, I thought it would be a lot better.

Does the increased learning in Primus only affect stat training?

How on earth do warriors learn 12 skills in one fight?

The would bet 12 is extremely rare and anything above 6 is pretty rare, because in my limited fighting in Primus I have never learned more than 5.

well part of it is a function of how many skills you have left to learn - if you went to Primus having learned the majority of the first 120 - then trained wit to 25 - you're only looking at learning 30 more skills. Remember how your learning slowed in basic/ad for that last number.

if you learned 50 skills and burned 70 - having 100 left to learn in Primus I'd bet you would be learning way more than you have been.

How many sills can you learn from basic to Primus without burning?

In Basic and ADM, you can learn up to 120 skills. Any burned skills are subtracted from that total. In Primus, you can learn another 30 skills plus all the skills that were burned in Basic and ADM.

Ah, ok, well that makes sense. Good thing I don' t intend to learn them all.

I did not know that! When did this happen? Sometime in my 10-year absence I can only assume. No wonder my 2 in Primus have been getting their butts kicked... This changes my whole approach to the game.

The 5 new skills per area and the ability to relearn burned skills were two of the features of the Gateway arena. When Gateway was closed, those features were added to Primus instead.

Following up on this to clarify a few things:

I had a retired BA who was Primus Eligible, and I brought her back for this tourney in anticipation of entering her in the regional. I went skills, thinking she'd get the bonus skill learning from Primus.... apparently, that was an erroneous assumption. She is currently IN Primus, but entered the Eligible tourney.

Now, I can only assume that the extra skill learns can be learned ONLY in Primus arena or the Contenders/Primus tourney. Can someone confirm this?

You can only learn Primus skills in the Primus arena, OR when fighting in tournaments, only in the Contenders/Primus bracket. Attempting to learn Primus skills in the Eligibles tournament will give you a message stating you can't learn anything else, or something to that effect.
