The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is coming soon. The scheduled release date is DEC 13, 2013. We're under 60 days to go! Here's a 2 minute trailer:

I generally won't spend money to go to a movie so who here went on day 1, weekend 1, or waited in line for the first showing?

How was it?

Waiting until near Christmas to see it with the drandkids in KC.

There was some griping about minor points of "editing liberty" on Chatzy, but reviews seem very positive.

Hoping to get there at some point this weekend with my two oldest daughters (who surprisingly loved the first one) and my 3 teenage nephews. This looks more like a faster moving, straight up action/adventure movie, the setup's all done! Can hardly wait to see the dragon! I'm surprised they've leaked out as much of him as they have!

Big article in USA Today about PJ's addition of the female elf fighter and why. Quite good reading.

Saw it tonight. Thought it was a LOT better than the first movie. Less cliche, less cheezy. I enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
