There was a Donatello reference in the 105 Spy Report this turn. How about a history lesson from our elders who may know a bit about Donatello (style, manager, why it dominated it's time and it's status compared to another old warrior like Dee Dee)

Second question. Who is the best Striker of all time (at the highest level)? I've seen 2 of note lately. Mahi Mahi, of Big Wave Dave fame I believe, and Marduk who has like a 276-76 record. I didn't take the time but, in your opinions, what has allowed Marduk this record? And I didn't take the time but who manages Marduk?

Thanks and I hope sopmeone shows interest in these questions!

Donatello was a PL, managed by Mirage. He had a long, successful run due to his size and attack. Being a PL, he had a lot of balance. This was before LU's reached their peak and few people ran AB's. His success didn't begin to diminish until after the LU's began to catch up to him.

Marduk is run by The Dark One. It would be hard to consider another ST better than him based on his overall record.

If I remember correctly, Donatello was early warrior who didn't have any "burned" skills. Most of the other warriors who ascended during the same time period didn't have the benefit of avoiding "burned" skills. (or rather, their managers didn't know about "burning" skills early enough)

Donatello was a Parry Lunge warrior dominant in the second era of Duel*******. John Myler was a Ruling Council member who did not train attributes (except CON) in Basic DM. A good starting skill base, no "burned" skills, an excellent damage rating all lead Donatello to dominate the second era.

I spent a LOT of time on Strikers. It is a long discussion, but Strikers have a lot of base advantages in Basic DM over other styles, and some skill disadvantages. Now, through 30+ attributes on any warrior and all those base advantages become equalized, but the skill disadvantage never goes away.

Hmm, I don't think arena record makes a warrior the best. Besides, a large portion of those wins are repeated downchallenges against the same opponents.

Well, back then there was a lot more emphasis in the arena. I agree that these days it means nothing, especially in Primus because it seems like half of the field is experiement/running fake strategies.
