defending the gate? are they bringing that back?
It will be back this turn. Lee is open to bringing it back full time, but she has reservations because of possible abuses.

Why was Defending the Gate removed in the first place?

...and what potential abuses are there?

We choose Manager's trash. It's probably better than the warriors we ran.
I say we run this sheet to Primus and make these warriors participate in the next KOP contest

Because the Gateway arena closed and everyone moved back to Primus.

The worst abuse was the Duelmaster going to the Dark Arena and preventing any warrior from challenging for the throne. Obviously a loss gives a new Duelmaster.
It also clogs up the top 11 spots, in the same manner (warriors going to the Dark Arena using up those spots).
Finally, the last abuse is intentionally losing to drop in the rankings. I'm not sure if anyone did this, but there have been many instances of warriors abusing the classification system in the past, staying ranked low and preying on inferior fighters.
****
The best idea I came up with to address to a degree all of these issues is:
- When a warrior defends the Gate, he becomes 'inactive' using the current inactive flag. This removes him from the rankings and also prevents him from making a regular challenge the next turn. These warriors could easily be listed in a new/separate section of the newsletter.
There are details and coding issues, but it is relatively simple, uses mechanisms that are already in the code, and tries to fix the current 'abuses'.
The one issue I see with this system is that you can use the Gate Monsters to get into the top 10. It also doesn't entirely address sandbagging, but sandbagging is alive and well today, so I'm not as concerned, even though this is a somewhat convenient method to drop classes. But by making the warriors inactive, they cannot challenge on their next fight, so they have no control over who they fight and could easily be bumped up or down a class on that next fight.

How about just banning the top two classes (three if you count the Lady's Protector) from challenging the Gate, except under special circumstances (perhaps an "event" once or twice a year)?
It won't require any recoding, just a little vigilance before the turn is run (which I understand can create its own problems during tournaments, holidays, busy weeks, etc).

Hilarious and even tempting. And so much potential. Now I want to win more of these trash sheets. Just the thought of poking fun of Manager with the naming of the teams/warriors is a blast.

I'd name it Manager's Non-TPs. After all everyone knows if the sheet doesn't have a good TP on it it's junk to him!!!

If anyone's curious, the numbers I got for my royal court prize was: 7-14-3-17-21-5-17
Anyone want to share if it's their warrior? 90% sure I'm going to make it an AB, just because I want to be able to deal with little damage.

Well, it couldn't be any of ours, because we don't run anything that good!
