I am bored to tears by the scimitar. It is everywhere. It drives me crazy.

There are other weapons, people. Weapons with which your warrior might actually fight better. Is there not at least a token effort to find a favorite weapon? Is a 9 ST and 11 DF the key to eternal DM happiness? By the RUGs, I hope not.

I have a few warriors with scimitar apparent faves. They use it. Everyone else who can use it well-suited TRIES it. But if the fave ends up being a shortsword or, yes, even a war flail, then by golly that's what they're going to use 75% of the time. I refuse to use an overpowered weapon just because I can.

My 9 ST Lungers use it Cool All others use LO.

I try to build my warriors when possible so that they can wear ASM, it really does help.

It really is too much but, I don't want to send anyone out on the sands without the best chance to win. I look at my designs now for two things: one is, in agreement with RR, if they need armor can they wear ASM and at least H, the second is can they carry that armor and two scimitars. My Bloodgames designs are either running naked with scimitar or ASM-APA / F with scimitar and sometimes ME. They are designed with that in mind, excluding only lungers and bashers (but why?Razz) . Other than being durable against the scimitar (relatively) for me, ASM is the first real armor. The rest isn't worth the time usually. I still try it but am becoming less and less fond of anything below ASM. ARM is a complete dud especially against EP and LO. At any rate I want to win and the scimitar is the best weapon for it. I will fool around of course and try to find favorite weapons but if nothing is apparent early oh well. My favorite weapon is actually the QS. I love sending my strikers and aimers out for a little tee-ball action with somebody's noggin.

Unfortunately, Obregon, once you get beyond basic (and to some extent even in basic), SC just outclasses most of the other weapons, even if that other weapon is your fave.

Ways to counter the SC:

1) Bring a faster weapon and never let your scimitar wielding opponent use it.

2) ASM.

3) If you can't beat them, join them. Bring your own SC.

It's a shame the test arena and style and weapon balancing talked about last spring seems to have been forgotten about. All of you going to the FtF make sure to bring it up again with Lee.

Would it help if they came in different colors?"

Decided to do a random selection of five active teams in DM to see what weapons we were primarily (the one they most regularly used) using:
AB - SS, SC, FI
BA - WH, QS, WH, QS
LU - LS, LO
PL
PR - SC
PS
SL - SC, BS
ST - SS, BS. QS, SS, BA, LO
TP - LG, BS, ME, BS
WS - BS, SC, BS
We guess we use less SC than most.

No kidding. Some weapons tweaks, even subtle ones on some areas, and then maybe letting us know it's been done (not what but that it has been implemented) so that it doesn't take us 5 years to finally try the WF again and figure out it's actually doing decent damage, would be great.

I'm just as sick as everybody else of going up against the army of no-armor-SC-wielding strikers and aimers in the tournies as I can be, even though I do it myself. Bottom line is right now the SC is super fast, does great damage, and it IS pretty damn cool to boot. Just be nice to see some other weapons begin to have some merit. Although I'll admit the SS is taking over the lower tournies as the speed weapon of choice, and there's never anything wrong with the LO, either.

Other weapons are usable. It all depends on what you need to do. For speed, for example, scimitars are not the best choice. So in basic other options exist.

I try all sorts of stuff. I even just sent in a guy with a flail. But scimitar is usually the default weapon and every roll-up at least gets the "can it use the scimitar" look.

And yes, I do wear scalemail.

I do like the idea of other colors for scimitars.

For speed I sometimes use the FI against 0-2 with some of my ST/BA/AB in basic
