I am curious about a couple things.

1. I have not played for a long time. So as I have said, I was pleasantly suprised the game was still going. However, I am puzzled why the game is not more online. Is there some reason it has not become a pbem instead of pbm?

2. How big a company is RSI? When I played a long time ago, I guess I imagined a couple guys who wrote a number cruncher/statisical engine and were basically running it on some PCs out of their basement. What does the company look like today?[/url]

1. The company in its current state is prevented from taking the game online further than it is (i.e. submitting strats and receiving results via email or the website) by the original designer Ed Schoonover, I believe. He holds the internet rights hostage over some sort of dispute. There is some controversy amongst us managers over whether or not the game should go that way anyway. Most kind of like the old-school snail mail setup.

2. RSI isn't very big now, it's basically run by a group of women in Tempe, they've got maybe 5-10 employees, a part-time programmer?? Others could give more accurate estimates, but that's ballpark. There's been much hand-wringing on this site in recent years over the state of this game and the company in general, but RSI has revealed recently to us (in a live web discussion which you can find on here somewhere) that D2 is actually still very stable financially for them.

Yeah, I have thought about that myself. For this game, the snail mail part is kind of nice. I would want it to remain a option even if turn submittals and results became electronic. Kind of like you can choose paper or electronic statements for other things.

To bad the dispute is going on. Hope someday they can reach a compromise.
