Wonder if anyone is familiar with a 90s band called Life of Agony ? Only discovered they even existed due to the following song, to illustrate his vocal strength chose a live version.
I keep reading how they were a MAJOR underground Alternative Metal/Punk band but I guess the Detroit stations never noticed them to even play during their overnight "Metal Hour" where they typically play more obscure bands of the VERY Heavy Metal genres. I really hate American radio more and more everyday!
On a side note he is now known as a woman, I am aware . But geez I thought Glenn Danzig and Dio had powerful voices for little guys (about 5' 4 each) this guy can't even be 5 foot tall. The female singer is about 5' 7. Yes you may infer in a mere 2-3 weeks since discovering this band (Within Temptation) they have moved into my top 10 favorite bands!

I'm glad to see Rush and HEART finally get into the R&R HOF! I mean I understand The Beastie Boys and Red Hot Chili Peppers but they got in before these 2 bands? I call SHENANIGANS!!!
Of course I did immediately when Cleveland beat out Detroit for the location so...
Alex Lifeson? Not sure if I saw it as funny or insulting in his acceptance speech "Blah, blah ... "blah-blah-blah-blah" for the better part of 3 minutes. Literally that is all he said with changing inflection and acted out what he was inferring with his "Blahs" but still ... Again I think it is something of a sham, the RRHOF, to begin with but for his fans he should have said a few ACTUAL words.
Heart was a band I had to not acknowledge liking to most of my friends despite my favorite 3 bands back then being: Triumph, Heart, and Montrose (solo or the band); in that order. I saw them live 3 times and each time was phenomenal and VERY loud; they were almost 130 dB at Joe Louis Arena, louder than the Who's former record 126! Great to see the original band play one of the songs, Crazy on You, and then the current band joined by fellow Seattlers Jerry Cantrell, Mike McCready, and Chris Cornell for Barracuda!Up until about 2 weeks before the induction the Wilsons said "No Way. Nope!" when asked if the original lineup would play together. Glad they set aside long standing issues, and relationship breakups, to play on this occasion!
They have had top 25 albums in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 10s. 12 of 14 albums have hit the top 25!
Heart - Crazy on You (RRHOF 2013 performance (Nancy Wilson is an amazing Guitarist btw and not visually unpleasing even at age 59! Ann's voice is still strong at 62!!))

True professionalism! A band that plays to 50,000 in Europe playing at Terminal 5" in New York's Hell's Kitchen , which I've gathered can hold 3,000. Shows that they do NOT Lip Sync! The singer (Sharon den Adel) is 37 and has had 3 children (not bad for her age says the UGLY 42 year old ) with the bald Guitar Player (Robert Westerholt), you can see a little of their interplay at about 1:10. If it's not your style or you only have a moment skip ahead to about 2:05. The Microphone/PA couldn't handle her tremendous voice any longer! They wear the in ear monitors so that static must've REALLY hurt, you see them jump!
They even played a brief rendition of "Charge!", for the New Yorkers (Yankees/Mets), while the crew tried to fix the problem or get her a new mic!
Have any of the New Yorkers been to Terminal 5? Looks like a cool place to see a show! If you survive from the car to the venue
Floyd?

Cool Video for a song written about the 2007 attack on 2 young people because they were "Goth". One of them died, Sophie Lancaster age 20. The incident led to attacks on people, in Britain, because they belong to a "subculture" now being labeled a hate crime just as it would be against gays or members of a particular race! Good for them on making a wise decision that will hopefully lead to such useless acts being greatly decreased!!!

Having just discovered this band, and how hot the singer is , figured I'd throw out 3 more by them! As opposed to most in the genre being classically trained she is a jazz trained singer. Her voice is quite unique and soulful. The 3rd song, Breathe on Me, is about her celebrity crush Nick Cave; she states anyone who is a Nick Cave fan will get all the references to his songs in the lyrics. The first song has some of the most unique vocal lines I've heard in a long time! The second song is a soulful ballad.

If any of the Metalheads ever wondered what happened to the singer of the late 80s Euro-Metal band, Helloween (Michael Kiske), here's something of his from recently. Featuring him and a singer from my home state of MI (city of Flushing- out in the "sticks") who went to Europe to be a singer; shit I coulda' used her in my bands here at home! I was a bit surprised to see he has a pretty good voice.

Here's a REALLY cool version of Stairway to Heaven (a cover not ZEP.. obviously). If you can spare 8:14 you will NOT be disappointed! I'd especially like Stikkie to check out the killer Bass player, seeing as how he, as am I, are players of the "Fat Bottom Guitar" (he starts to hint at more than your average Bass at around 3:07+,and really starts to "get on it" around 3:55! A REAL SMOOVE touch!)!

Don't remember if it was this thread or not but me and Stik posted our 3 favorite songs by a band called King's X. Just found a Jazz Pianist, named Kate Skinner, who covered one of the songs Stik listed:

Some very cool links, Street! Wonder who that bass player is on the Zep cover!
If you watch the King's X link, you'll see an even cooler cover (by bassist Billy Sheehan) of that song over on the right!

Yeah I've actually seen that before and debated on posting it; should've known an ole' Bass-ie like you would've appreciated it and posted it before! Is it the one at the 2012 NAMM that you saw(Green Sea Foam Bass)? Check out this:

Here's a link to an interview that was done with Jerry Gaskill, "over a year after his death" (since his heart attack where he died and was resuscitated to be technical).
Here's one paragraph that mentions an old Jeff Ament (Pearl Jam Bassist) quote where he stated King's X "Invented Grunge"!
King’s X can depend on one thing: the respect of fellow musicians. Their innovation is acknowledged in the back-stages and recording rooms, if not on Magazine covers. Take, for instance, what came to be known as the “Seattle sound.” No one is quite sure if King’s X or Soundgarden invented drop D tuning first (Soundgarden’s Ultramega OK was released the same year as King’s X Out of the Silent Planet), but no less an authority than Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was convinced enough to declare King’s X the inventor of grunge. “I think I’ve come to realize that musicians do seem to be drawn to us,” says Gaskill. “I’m honored by it, and I think it’ll keep us around, because there’s always going to be musicians.”
King's X: Important Enough to be Legends, Fringe enough to be forgotten.
Not so sure that's a good thing since I hate Grunge for having interrupted "Real Metal's" reign, but it was cool that they were recognized and influential on the entire "Seattle Scene"!

Megadeth getting ripped for their new single but I kinda' like it .... for once in quite awhile something that they've done that I like! The guitar tone, which I like, seems to be carried through the whole album. I'd gotten sick of some of the muddier tones they were using. Seems they also concentrated on the music and not just being heavy and fast.

Here's a group that's among those bringing back the 80s sound!
Typical "over the top" 80s Metal Band acting with fast chicks and hot cars .... or vice versa!

Featured a Female Duet from Europe a little while back so here's one of the few American pair's that I've seen that can compete vocally!

What the hell was in the water in the Eastern suburb of Detroit - Grosse Point? Both were in the same High School together at one point! I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks I guess - from a Western Suburb of Detroit.
I obviously love Mark Tremonti, whose playing has stepped up immeasurably in the past 10 years, but I had absolutely NO idea that John 5 was a guitar virtuoso. I always put him together with Marilyn Manson and thought "Industrial Metal" - solid player but nothing flashy!
OOPS! I might have to give him the nod, almost no "might" in it, over the other Detroiter as our greatest guitar talent. Ted Nugent did it early, and from a young age (14 or 15 with the Amboy Dukes), but he cannot touch either, IMHO!
