Anyone ever had a fighter who seems to refuse to learn? I have a guy who is 15 WT, 13WL. Certainly not stellar, but he absolutely refuses to learn skills. Does not seem to matter fighting up or down the ranks, oppnents FE, weapons, strats, etc, etc, etc. He has learned 4 skills in the past 12 fights. That "seems" strange to me especially having 13 WT guys and even an 11 WT guy that out-learn him routinely. Can a fighter be hosed in learn rate?

Yes. # of skills can be over-rated though, especially if he's learning the right areas. That said, don't be afraid to DA, especially if he's not winning.

Sure. The learn rate is "modified" by a luck-roll factor.
Some warriors don't learn; some go wild with learns. (Out of the blue.)
What we do when it happens:
1. make a change to WTand see if that helps (bump WT to 16)
2. Live with it and wait it out. Surprisingly, he just may be on a negative roll.
3. Sit the warrior out a few rounds. That'll teach that dimit a lesson or two! An emotional version of #2 above.
4. Use a modifier in round #1, if you already aren't. May spur the warrior's "internal roll for skills" to "think" something different.
5. Stop running altogether or DA the warrior.
Our general advice is to "not let it bother you". If he loses enough from it, he will drop down in recognition and get easier newbies (with even less skills) to fight. It may just take a little longer to graduate.

I have DA'd 21 WT warriors because they don't learn and perform well enough.
There is also somewhat of a style factor to learns as well, perhaps simply because defensive types tend to have longer fights on average. A 13WT WS will often learn as well as a 17 WT offensive for instance:
My current 13WT WS project is at 20 FE and has 31 skills: learn rate 1.55 skills/fight
I also recently graduated an AB (10-9-9-17-15-5-21) who had only 40... yeah that's right I said 40... skills learned at graduation, with 29 FE. Learn rate 1.38 skills/fight
This one, however, still did well and graduated at 18-4-0 (L/VL Dagger). Haven't decided if I'm going to keep playing him.
