I'm curious if anyone else's female fighters were referred to as being "male" in the tournament fight descriptions? Or was it only me?

It wasn't just you.

My Apprentices TV, Crepe Suzette, was referred to as a male the entire tourney. Partway through, I was like, "I can't believe I screwed up this warrior's gender!"

After you posted your first message about this in the other thread, I went back and checked my overview, and sure enough, Crepe Suzette is a she.

Perhaps it was an April Fool's joke!

I've seen this every mailin I've participated. I would bet it has to do with the tourney arenas possibly using an older "pre-gender equality" version of the fight program.

you guys just solved a mystery for me. I have a warrior that I marked as female, but it fought as a male in her first fight.
