OAB and I have been trying Alamaze for a little over a month now and have both really enjoyed it. I pulled a blurb about Alamaze from another web site:
ALAMAZE is a computer moderated correspondence game involving
15 players, set in the fantastic world of Alamaze. Each player assumes
the role of king (or queen) of a unique people. Each king enjoys
certain advantages and must cope with relative weaknesses in his quest
to lead his people to dominance over his rival kings. Players must
focus attention on a broad range of strategic and tactical considerations.
Military might, political power, magic, diplomacy, economic guile and
espionage are among the tools of the successful monarch.
Alamaze used to be an RSI run game but is now run by one of its co- creators. It has moved from PBM to PBeM. It runs 2x a week every week.
I'd play. Hope we can get 15 participants. Never played before, but it looks like fun.

I played Alamze about 20 years ago. It was my introduction to PBMG. My friend then introducted me to Duelmasters! I might be interested in playing. I still have my big map!

Thanks for all the responses so far. We have 5 confirmed and are already a 1/3 of the way there.
Now that we have it going a bit I will start working with the Alamaze folks to get a sign up thread posted on their site as well.
Once we have it up to about 10 confirmed we can start having people decide on kingdoms they want to play.
I will post another update soon.

I can play in the All D2 game as well.
I am currently playing in game 101.
I would also be happy to help people catch up on the rules and how things work. Alamaze is a pretty complex game and it is easy to overlook a few things at first.
Plus turns are running every 4 days so it moves very fast.

So I was emailing the guy that runs Alamaze , If we get 10 confirmed people he will open up a game sign up thread on the Alamaze web site where we can post in order the 3 kingdoms we would like to play.
At last count we had 6 confirmed and 1 maybe .... So just need 3 more people to want to give it a whirl and we are good to go. If we don't fill out the final spots here I will open the game to Alamaze rookies on their site.
Did I mention the game runs a guaranteed 2 turns a week? Did I mention you get the turns via email so no nasty USPS to ruin the fun? Did I mention you get to crush me in a game of fantasy world domination ? OK ..just making sure ....

For anyone that wants to go ahead and sign up for Alamaze .. send and email to signup@alamaze.co ( yes thats .co and not .com ) ... In your email mention that you are a new player and you want to sign up for the Duelmasters game. We need 3-4 more people at last count , so as soon as we get those I'll open the last 5 spots to newer players on the Alamaze site.

Ok we have 8 confirmed players for the Alamaze game .. We really need at least 2 more Duelmaster's players to commit before I open the game to others.
In the spirit of getting this going ASAP I am personally going to offer some prizes for our 1st , 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the Alamaze Duel2 game.
I am putting $150 towards the prize pool ...
1st place gets $80 value in either Duel2 roll ups or Alamaze play time.
2nd will get $50 value in either Duel2 roll ups or Alamaze play time.
3rd place will get $20 value in either Duel2 roll ups or Alamaze play time.
If you decide you want to play but are unsure how to signup etc ..Please let me know and I'll do my best to help out.

We have 9 confirmed now .... Just need one more to make it a go though obviously we can have up to 15 Duelmasters players join.
Here is the link to all the pricing levels for Alamaze ...
**Just realized you had to have signed up at the Alamaze site to access the link above so cut and paste the juicy stuff below ***
The Service Levels:
Warrior
–
We recommend new players who have experienced either Alamaze itself or an Alamaze-style game sometime before begin with the Warrior Service Level. Why?
You won’t have the learning curve of a newbie to episodic (PBEM) strategy gaming
–you already know the main precepts -and you’ll get the hugev alue of Warrior, which provides two
games of Alamaze Classic concurrently: double that of Scout, for just about 1/3 more in monthly subscription. Said another way, you’ll be getting about 15 turns a month for less than what you might have been accustomed to paying for 4 turns in earlier PBEM’s.
$26.95 monthly (expect about15 turnsper month in the two games combined)
.
Scout–
New to Alamaze and PBEM styled games? Episodic styled turn-based gaming with
several days possible between turns is strange to some, who haven’t been in games of 15
(like Alamaze) or so players, each carefully crafting strategy in a single campaign that takes
about three months to complete. Scout provides one game of Alamaze at a time for a more
cautious approach while you learn the ropes. $19.95 monthly for about 7+ turns per month.
Commander
-Many Alamaze players will be joining at, or moving quickly to, Commander Level Service
Others will join them because of the whole new arenas opened at this service level: Epic
and Standby An Alamaze game has 15 kingdoms, and in
Classic Alamaze, 15 unique players. In Epic, a game has 15 kingdoms, but 5 players each control a team of 3 kingdoms vying for victory. Commander Serviceis the first level at
which a player may control multiple kingdoms in the same game in this more intense
challenge among experienced players. An Epic game counts as 2 games against the service
level, even though 3 kingdoms are controlled. Additionally, Commander Service
introduces the ability to assume control of an abandoned position early (or possibly, later)
in a game, through Standby. A dropped position before Turn 6 can be taken over by a
Commander Level player at no cost. A CommanderLevel player then can play in up to 4
games including the Standby position (3 games plus 1 standby) for just a few dollars more
than Warrior Level Service. $34.95 for 30+ turns per month if the Standby spot is utilized.
