About a week until the tourney and surprisingly little chatter...

I've been playing for about fifteen years, five years in the early 90s and ten years more recently. I've accomplished a lot of my goals, but one which continues to frustrate me is doing well with the Parry-Lunge style. In fifteen years, I've never TV'd with a PL.

My latest attempt is the warrior that I'm most excited about in Rookies: ELF COBBLER of SHEWISH PICNIC. He arrived by way of a replacement roll-up in one of my favorite arenas. 10-10-3-10-16-13-8, which I made into a 15-10-3-11-21-13-11 PL. His overview shows bonuses in Ini and Rip, as well as a very lucky GOOD damage roll.

ELF COBBLER isn't my best warrior, or even my best Rookie, but he is one of the warriors I'm most excited to read the fights for in this coming tourney.

My fave, which I won't identify as it is an active arena warrior (or will be after Rookie Mailer), is a not-quite godling basher. (It might be a godling to Assur. Cool )

17-9-9-17-9-6-17 poor endu, good damage, expert attack (+2/4)

It will be a race to see whether it, or OAB's plunger above, does best.
I suspect the odds are against either TVing. Crying or Very sad

I quite a few I can't wait to read about... Here are a few of them:

This one goes out to OAB. As this is my best PL hopeful in Apprentices:

11-12-7-17-15-5-17. +3/4 ATT +3/4 PAR

This is my stat swapped trip 21 whos looking good for Adepts, was also Fist zapped beforehand... Ambi, Normal Dmg, +3 DEF.

8-5-4-21-21-4-21.

Basher on this one, Apprentice:

15-3-16-21-17-5-7 Norm/Great. Just hope it makes some magic.

And a few nice Rookies:

17-9-4-21-7-9-17 PR

10-7-4-21-17-14-11 LU

17-14-4-9-21-4-15 TP +4 ATT

Many, many other but these aere some off the top of my head.

Since PL's and BA's are the styles du jour, these are the 2 roster spots I'm wasting, er I mean I'm excited about:

Rookies.
He is a parry-lunge with ST=11 CN=9 SZ=8 WT=17 WL=17 SP=5 DF=17.
He is right handed, is very intelligent, is quick and active, has a good endurance, can not take a lot of punishment, can not carry a lot of weight, is incredibly quick and elusive, and does good damage.

Apprentices.
He is a basher with ST=16 CN=3 SZ=13 WT=21 WL=17 SP=7 DF=7.
He is right handed, is a genius, is active, is clumsy, is very frail, can not carry a lot of weight, is quick on his feet, and does great damage.

You all can just forfeit any hope for ADM prize, I got 3 guys in this tourney.
2 lungers and a striker.
For the Freshmen 16-8-11-16-19-9-11 Lunger
In ADM 16-12-4-16-20-8-11 Lunger
The other for ADM 13-13-6-17-11-13-16 Striker. Only running this one since it was my first grad.

Good luck to all!

Another warrior who I'm very interested to read the fights for is one of five warriors of mine that have no chance to TC (my Primus entries).

GOLDENBEARD of SEA DOGS was a regular arena warrior who began life as an 11-9-10-17-20-4-13 LU. He accomplished nothing in the occasional tournament in basic, but graduated to discover some really neat favorites: Longspear, Very High OE, Very High AL, Lunge tactic, Dodge tactic, and Defense favorite learn!

I continued running him and he continued to accomplish nothing, fizzling on his ADM bust-out and failing to TV Contenders for a couple years, until one tournament when everything seemed to click and he went 14-2 to TC Contenders.

Its been a little over two years since that Contenders TC and he is now 5 trains away from maxing out his attributes and will be entering his first Primus tourney. Can a LU with these super favorites and a Blademaster in Attack hit the ABs enough to win a fight here and there? Or hit them at all? I'm excited to see what he is capable of, even if it is just an occasional 3-3 performance and an improvement to my next King of Primus team!

wow those are unbelievable natural faves! If he had LO instead of LS it'd be perfect!

I too am still seeking the elusive PL TV (along with PR and SL). In fact most of my tourney squads the last couple years have been these three styles and just a smattering of anything else. I've come very close with all three but just can't get it done. Last fall was one of the most heartbreaking tournaments I've ever had. Hoping this spring will see at least one TV for one of these styles.

I have several plungers going in basic, here are the two best:

11(+1)-15(+1)-7-21-17-4-11 timed for adepts. Parry fave learn and likes the LO. Went 5-3-1 his rookie campaign but not as good since. Adv exp+ in init, att, parry.

14(+1)-17(+2)-10-13(+2)-21(+1)-4-11 going into inits. 3-3 and 4-3 showings thus far, but looking good and showing some knack!

then, there's this guy:

11-5(+1)-15-14(+1)-21-13-7 WS for apps. bonused in attack, does trem. I've TV'd with wastes plenty in the past and they're one of my best styles, but I've almost never run an offensive/berserker type, and definitely not in the tourneys. He caught a few guys in the rookies, hoping to give some more people a nasty little surprise this time as well!

He is going to have some calluses on his hands after this tourney, if not broken bones...

I only sent a handful to this one, 7 or 8 in all.

Hopefuls:
15-3-7-21-17-5-17 LU with +4 ATT in the Champions, came back from the dead last fall, so I'll see if I can get him killed again.

12-21-5-15-17-5-11 WS with +5 ATT & +3 PAR in the Champions, was runner-up in Adepts last tourney.
