Just started a new team - Land of Prydain, named after the Chronicles of Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander, the first fantasy series I ever read as a kid.
Went 4-1-0 out of the gate! Best start I have ever had for a team, hope I can keep it going and looking forward to the challenge I hear this arena is.

Welcome to Shadowspire, Land of Prydain! Now hand over your wallet... (oops, sorry, that's a Darkholm thing, isn't it?)
I thought I was going to miss this turn, as the busy, crazy holidays had me off my normal schedule. Go UPS! 3-2-1 for Search the Sky. My new guy kills another new guy... Well, it can't be helped, I guess. Surprising, though. Sky Boom is nothing to wave banners about. (The other guy must have really sucked rocks!) The bloodfeud should be interesting...
Wouldn't you know it? I get a compliment for writing spotlights on the turn I let it pass because I'm "too busy"!! Ouch! I'll try to do better next time.

A poor 1-4-0-1 for the Cult. The learns were pretty good and I did manage to avenge the death of Brontay. The death was a newbie that was average at best. The two replacements I received with the turn, one is ok, the other is below average and will probably be fighting at night. Kid Arcane, I won't BF until the new guys show up in the arena!

Ooops. 1-4!
Dropped into all-time last place. Luckily I'm new enough that a good turn can raise me a few spots.
Nowhere to go but up!

That's pretty decent of you; I appreciate that. It's a whole new perspective (after having mostly seasoned veterans for so long) when most of the team is made of rookies in the lower echelons, isn't it?
But Sky Boom, as I said, is just as likely to get himself killed as not, so don't wait too long.

Nothing like unsolicited advice , but hang in there! I played as a kid, took 20-ish years off, came back a while, left and am back again. I would say 99.9% of the long time veteran managers are more than willing to help out. So, ask lots of questions, and if you are like me, ask them 2-3 times.
My teams records don't reflect it, since all but 1 of my active teams I used my old team, but I have managed to run about 50% win pct. on both my returns, which in today's D2 is pretty dang good.
Big thing I have learned is that a design does not have to be dead on perfect and optimal to win, especially in the regular arena. You can certainly design a turd if not careful, but even non-perfect, non-godlings can be good and fun arena guys. I have several guys who could arguably be DA'd and some of them are certainly overachieving. Big thing is to wisely use your challenges and avoids to try to get the best matchups possible. And try to narrow down your rhythms, weapons and tactics to use when your matchups are not optimal. It is possible to win fights that statistically should not be won.
In the end if you are having fun, then that is what counts, and it is a heck of a lot cheaper than going out drinking all night at Hooters (which I do anyway ) or going to the casino, so I consider it money well spent for entertainment.
