Votes being asked for on Discord as to choice of

Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Providence

(note: Charlotte and Pittsburgh are first time; Providence would be 2nd)

Vote here - if not on Discord, and Lee will see the votes (or I will feed them to her)

Since Mr C did the partial honors, here is Lee's post to Discord:

"Okay, here are the options I have so far for the Summer 2025 Face-to-Face (for the weekend of 7/18-20):

Providence RI: Crowne Plaza, airport hotel with free shuttle to Providence airport, and about 10 miles from downtown Providence. $179 sleeping rooms. Free wifi, fitness center, pool. Restaurant and coffee shop (starbucks products) on site, free parking. This hotel is only about 40 miles from the Boston airport so that might be a viable transportation option as well.

Pittsburgh PA: Drury Plaza Pittsburgh, downtown location about 20 mi from airport (no shuttle). $185 sleeping rooms. Complimentary hot breakfast, happy hour, free wifi, indoor pool, fitness center. Parking is $40/night. The building is eclectic -- it used to be a federal reserve bank and the meeting space is in an old vault. Lots of restaurants and things to do nearby (PNC Park, the Andy Warhol Museum, Starbucks, Fogo de Chao, etc.).

Charlotte NC: Doubletree SouthPark, by the mall, 11 miles from airport (no shuttle), $169 sleeping rooms, lounge and cafe, outdoor pool, fitness center, business center. free parking. The meeting space we'd be in is a 2000 square foot garden pavillion (this is a big tent with AC and she says it has plenty of power).

I hadn't looked at a map until tonight -- Charlotte is wayyy south of the Mason Dixon line and I think I'd consider it more of a Southern location. But since we have a proposal I'll include it as a viable location."

Agreed - Charlotte would be fine location in '26 as a South option, but makes no sense for a Northeast FTF.

Of the other options, Providence is good. Close to the casinos in CT, close enough to Boston for folks to take a run up there.

Pittsburgh? Meh.

Not sure if I will be able to attend. I think kid is at Quinnipiac at the same time. But if Providence, I might be able to drop him and BoC off at Quinnipiac, and continue to Providence, then pick them up on the way back. (BIG MIGHT)

My preferences:

1. Providence
2. Pittsburgh
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10. Charlotte

But Charlotte will move to the top of my queue for 2026.

Even though it is Northeast's turn, I vote for Charlotte because it is the only location I would be able to attend.

1) Providence
2) Pittsburgh

Charlotte is a southern location, doesn't make sense to have it as an option.

My thoughts ...

Pittsburgh ..havent been since I went to a Steelers game in 1985. Looks super easy for us east coasters to fly into.

Providence is going to be a travel struggle for anyone coming from the West Coast. Very few direct flights and its expensive to fly into. Boston isnt much better of an option for flights. Easy for us east coasters tho and a great food town.

Charlotte ..I love this location though whoever thought a tent outside in July would be a good idea needs help. Wink

Id vote Pitt and Prov as 1a and 1b ...Charlotte as currently booked is a nonstarter for me. Thanks.

I completely missed the part about Charlotte being in a big tent with "AC". Shocked

No go.

Paris, Kentucky is rather difficult to fly into and has rather miniscule motel accomodations. Wink
