Its been many years since I played, but I came across my old folders full of warriors the other day and started thinking of my good friends I played with. Heck, I don't even have the email address from when I first registered on this board. Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi to those still around from my time in DM and was wondering who was playing of my old friends? I'm actually thinking of attending the next FTF just to say Hi, if anyone I knew was still playing.

Staple Gun, good to see you back! Most of the the Dark Circle from your generation is still around in some form or the other. Also, I think Buri is around in Osksi and I saw Kid Arcane about a year or so ago but he has since disappeared. Right now 18 is doing well and of course Doc Steele is still holding down his fort. My arena of 36 is doing pretty well and currently you can find Scrag (now Alfredo of the Frothingsloshers), Guardian (quiet but there), Floyd and a few other notables. I think it's arena 11 that the Andorians are really pushing these days and there you can find the Consortium. Other than that there have been some minor changes here and there and we hope to see you on the sands very soon!

Can't add much to that, but certainly you and GAAPDA and The Dark Circle are well remembered. The Consortium was once on the Dark Circle mandatory "hit list" and we are very proud of it! We were everywhere, so name an arena and the appropriate manager will say "hi".

I can't say I remember your name but I've been retired for 10 years now.
Don't know what GAPPDA is but I remember that I created the Dark Circle.
Well if I can spend your money, it'd be an easy decision to make.

Or the same if we can spend yours. Come on back, sharky. Test your old-time mettle against the new regime and a newer, wide-open game. There are so few of us old, old, old timers left.

Well, here's the deal. Ten or so years ago there was a dispute between RSI and myself over the status of my account. At one face-to-face convention (the one where Olaf went 10-1 and made runner up in Primus) I gave a $100 bill to an employee - the wife of the then-boss.
However, RSI did not credit this amount to my account and at last check, they have me at somewhere around negative 109 dollars.
If this matter could be resolved, the chances of me at least fighting a turn or two would go up to 80% or so. If it isn't I don't think I am willing to fork over another hundred dollars just to return to play a game in which practically everyone I ever knew is gone, and from all accounts the emphasis of the game has changed quite a bit.
Not the rules - surprisingly in 10 years of inactivity (during which time there took place an IT revolution, with the possibility to allow RSI to turn Duelmasters from a PBM game to an online, interactive, "modern" format), none of the once-promised rule changes had been made, no new weapons, no new styles. There are tales of warriors who've maxed out their stats to all 25's and still don't dominate, and there seems a concensus that you have to be either an AB or a LU (when I run none of these) to succeed and the only reason I'd want to come back is to run the warriors I've sweated money and blood over and come to love, not to start a basic team and "work my way up".
And I don't want to be the same guy that I was when I played before - ten years has changed me a lot and I'm no longer looking to make trouble or prove I'm the best. I just want to be a G.D.I. (GodDamned Independent) and have fun.
Basically, if I came back today it'd be like Michael Jordan's third return with thew Wizards; he didn't come back thinking he'd be the best in the world, just wanted to come back "for love of the game". I retired at the top of my game. But I'd be lying if I said that the idea of playing and your urgings haven't made me at least a little bit interested in giving it a shot.
Of course, if anyone wants to buy some warriors, I'd definitely listen to those suggestions. I heard someone offering a couple warriors for multiple thousands of dollars, and people spending hundreds on tournament prizes. If anyone wants to buy some former TCs or some warriors who've had TC pizes used on them, let me know.
And thanks for the encouragement; even if I don't return, it's been an honor.

Here are some numbers from the latest turn in Primus, just to show how the top end pretty much looks.
Top 20
12 LU
5 AB
1 WS
1 PL
1 PS
0 SL
0 TP
0 BA
0 ST
0 PR
Top 6 is 4 AB's, 1 PS, 1 LU
A PS in the top 6 but no SL in the top 20? WTF?.....<somewhere Ultraist shakes his head in utter disgust!>
