SL have to get lucky and there are tons of bad style matchups in the early tourney groups, Namely Strikers.. No matter how good they look. They need the correct learns until they are able to bust out and even then if their favorites are not good they are in trouble.
I think with the PL you have a better chance vs the loads of styles you will meet early. ST's especially. And they can deal with the slower parry style fighters better than the SL as well if they are run properly.

Assur have you made bashers similar to the one I suggested? If so how did they fare?
Somewhere along the way I pretty much stopped making bashers lower than size 7. I wouldn't condemn anyone for doing it and there are more than a few that have succeeded at various levels.
The reasons I limit my bashers to size 7 or greater:
1) Damage. Bashers really need good or better damage at the start and for those silly/stupid enough to run them past graduation, tremendous is just not very exciting.
Yet, someone recently TVd Freshmen with a size 4, tremendous damage basher.

I an determined to TV freshman with a small SZ basher as well.
