The first news of the upcoming tourney has arrived from RSI:

Quote:
It looks like it's going to be an April Fools tournament, due April 1, and the tourney will be April 4.

This means that February 22 is the likely date of the ADM freeze.

Reminder: there is no basic freeze. A basic warrior's classification is determined by their FE at the time of the tourney.

Only a fool would not participate in this tourney!

How could one possibly dislike a Hokie? Especially one whom seemingly tells the truth. Wink

Nice crop! May open up Challengers a little.

Word has arrived from a Destitute Noble of the faraway land of Arizona that the prize for this mail-in is: Rainbow DYO

The description from the last time it was offered is as follows:

Quote:
The Duelmasters Grand Tournament is a premier competition. Only the strong will survive; only the best will win! And for this tournament only, winning means an opportunity that ranks as every guild master's greatest dream: To design one new warrior with attributes of their choice! This warrior will then be placed into a special Twinning Apparatus, creating ten warriors, one of each fighting style, with your chosen attributes; you may choose the best three to add to your team. (The DYO will follow the normal Commission requirements: 84 total points, each minimum 3/maximum 21.) Remember, all prizes must be used within six months.

Good luck to everyone in their quest to win one!

The "Because I Am Stuck At Home And Supposed To Be Working But I Can't Motivate Myself To Do So" tourney preview!

Yes, that was a bit long winded. Need a new title!

Reviewing my entrants, since it's tourney due date (soft anyway) day. Once again there are several entrants who ought not to be here. Thank you contest arenas!

Primus or Why Do I Try?
Sending in two just because. Well, because they both got more than one win in Tempe, that's why. Was it just an aberration? Likely we'll find out. One LU, Markus, nearly maxed. One BA, Dmitri, who shocked me with a 2-3. Neither all that sexy.
Predicted finish: 2-8

Contenders
Skipping.

Eligibles
One entrant here. My great WS hope! Well, not really. More like my hopeful new 5th member for the 2022 KoP squad. He is plus 8 at least.
Predicted finish: 3-3

ADM
Another single entry. My modified AB, Voodoo Toad. He got identified as "would clearly have graduated were he not dead" after the fall tourney despite having about 15 skills short of the maximum and not having success in the Challengers class. He also got the distinction of being forced to skip Freshmen. Oh well, he'll be camping here for a while but at least he has room to pick up his last two attack and last defense skills before training up to the line!
Predicted finish: 2-3

Freshman
Wasn't going to enter in this class at all. I have nothing ready. Then I read another fight where Night Stalker soundly beat on another challenger with his SC. The novelty of running the SC wielding LU is too much for me so in he goes. 24 skills short of the cap and mediocre physicals but if he ruins just one AB's day with a few well placed SC crits it will be well worth it!
Predicted finish : 1-3

Challengers
With the star pupil sucked off to ADM I'm left with 4 entrants. Three of them are SLs! I am sending the two time class TV, Brit Stone. He's struggled to run deep of late but I hope for good things. His understudies have mixed results. No really, one does well in mail ins, the other in face to face. No idea why. A lone LU for giggles.
Predicted finish: 25-12 1 TV

Champion
One good ST, although Vlad wouldn't run it (P/G anyone?) and a 25 FE LU looking for cheap prepping. Not sure what to expect from either. I don't have a lot of success with non LU/SL in this class. I expect that to continue.
Predicted finish: 10-6

Adepts
Ok, this is where things start to get silly! Two 19 FE from a contest arena trying to get a leg up. Neither of them do I expect to be competitive. Add in a favorite WS, at 15 FE and a last minute weirdly physical (ST+CN=33) 21 WT BA. You can begin thanking me now!
Predicted finish: 9-12

Initiates
Three more untimed contest arena guys going here who by all rights should be seated at home! Why do I do this to myself? This one has my first potential threat, a nice AB with a good learning curve (read defense!). It also boasts a solid ST for the class. Three ABs, two STs, one each LU and SL. I like the style makeup!
Predicted finish: 36-20 2 TVs

Apprentices
We start getting to the classes where anything goes. 12 entries here. Five of these are physical WS. Need to come up with a clever name for this invasion but I just can't! 4 ABs, and 1 each LU, SL, TP.
Predicted finish: 47-36 2 TVs (a couple of those WS have to get lucky and miss the ABs!)

Rookies
Twenty entrants. 6 AB, 1PR, 1PS, 5 SL, 3 ST, 1 TP, 3 WS. Hard to predict things here but I really like the STs, a couple of the SLs, and a couple ABs to do well. I can't bring myself to predict that many TVs though.
Predicted finish: 99-60 3 TVs

54 total entrants. That is a lot higher than the 12 I was at a month and a half ago. Not a lot of expectations. Like I've said before, you can all thank me for your success!
14 AB, 2 BA, 6 LU, 1 PR, 1 PS, 10 SL, 6 ST, 3 TP, 11 WS
How did I not run a PL? Third most popular style in the KoP? Maybe I have time to find one and fax it in.......

Good luck!
