Used it for both P-ads and DM columns and it works just fine.

Ok, if they can do this, they can certainly do strategy entry via a webpage. Think of all the time and postage that could be saved. Heck, think of all the data entry time RSI would save.

Hal needs an upgrade.

My understanding is that there is a legal reason RSI cannot let us do online/email strategy entry. Something to do with a legal agreement between them and a former employee with creative rights.

From a previous FtF conversation, I do know that there are some possible legal loopholes that they are kind of investigating. Technology has changed A LOT since then. For example, Fax is an allowed type of input already. Right now, what's to stop a customer from writing a web client that then calls an internet FAX API to send the data to RSI's fax machine? (An outrageous per page Fax charge, that's what)

Or to make it even easier, they could set up their fax machine to receive their emails and automatically print it out for them. (Which would make it even easier for people to code up multiple ways to send in input...)

The lines between phone/electronic/web communication have been blurred more than ever. At this point there have to be so many loopholes that are exploitable.

We could talk till we are blue in the face, but we don't know the details of this possible agreement. Additionally, I am not sure RSI necessarily wants to violate the spirit of this agreement while observing the letter of it.
They have a niche and a game model, that I personally like the feel of. The anticipation, the slower timeline.
I think that if they started accepting faster inputs, it wouldn't be long until people said "oh but why not also send the results back to me via email?"
and then
"Oh, now that you send them to me in email can't we run turns faster?"
and then
"Oh why not just put it online on a webform and let me run fights whenever I want and see the results instantly?"

There is probably some things they could now do but I honestly suspect they are holding back because they tread too close to that slippery slope of not being a PBM anymore.

I remember how happy I was when they went from the feed paper fights to normal printed 8.5 x 11. Wow that was a serious upgrade Smile

They will never not mail turns via regular mail, but already accept electronic input for their other games.
