If you have a strong roleplaying need, an Andorian (no down-challenging, minimal desire to kill, highly - some say overly - sportsmanlike) bent, then try medium-sized DM11 (Kennelworth of Bulldogs will welcome you)
Uh...LOL...well I guess it will not likely be an Andorian arena for me! I would not quite "fit in" methinks...

There's another clue right there as to who I am... Wink

It looks like Sunset is the winner! I checked out the newsletter, and yes it seems to be hoppin'. Looks good! I will be putting my new team of horrors in there very soon...

Now I just have to wait for the rollup in the mail...that is, if they'll still send one to me...haha.

Yes...I have been to many, many FTFs...taken down a few TCs...and I'm sure many of you know me. It does appear, however, that none of the people that ran in my circles still play. No matter! It should be fun regardless. Very Happy

Speaking as likely the eldest statesman currently running in Sunset (started on turn 2, several teams since then), and the self-proclaimed "Friendly Delarquan," I would like to welcome you back to the game, and to Sunset, the Jewel of the Delarquan Federation, with open arms and freshly sharpened steels! Very Happy Twisted Evil

I remember the same feeling when I came back in '99 after almost 10 years, couldn't believe it was still going, ordered a team sheet and that got the whole thing rolling again! Some things have changed, mainly our knowledge of the game and how some styles are designed and run, but at its core it remains the same simple, fun, addictive masterpiece of strategy, competition, and interaction that it was back then. That is why it survives. That is why we still play.

When you show up in Sunset, settle your things in your new guildhouse and bring your boys down to the Broken Bone Tavern, our team-owned watering hole. First round's on us!

p.s.--If I were you I'd spend a few extra bucks, say $20, and get 4 team sheets so you have something to choose from. With just one, you may get a stinker and have to spend time trolling the Dark Arena for decent recruits! Post the teams on the forums here and we can all lend our opinions to help catch you up on designs!

Somehow, Stik, I get the feeling he knows what he is doing.

Welcome to Sunset! If you don't consider yourself an Andorian, it is the perfect place to go! I look forward to seeing your horrors on the sands.

Well I talked to Sandy on the phone today...and my rollup should definitely be on the way now...

I forgot to ask her for mini-overviews; oh well. I really want to stick to the one team, but it would be hard to imagine sticking to a pool of only 5 warriors if I were to show up at a FTF tournament. Wink

I guess I'll just shoot her off an email to ask for mini-overviews...even if it's just for the sake of curiosity. I have no clue how many warriors I have or where they are. Maybe I even left guys "tournament ready." Who knows? It'll be like Christmas...haha.

Mino? I remember Mino. Since all of us old fogies are talking; whatever happened to Towering Texan, Sharky, and the warrior Donatello?

I received a diplo-note from mannequin, but his e-mail address doesn't like me.

Does he visit the forums often?

Speaking to a few of these .....

Mino of Animal Farm in DM20 - DM20 was "closed" in a stupid move by RSI - Mino is in DM11 where Kennelworth is - as you said - Andorian is not your thing.

Mannequin is definitely on these forums and often appears often on the Chatzky. His old e mail does not work - but if you try the same monicker at gmail.com, you will probably get him. He and we are on the same alliance in The Turf Wars in DM47. We, along with other old-timers - Crip and Slugbait have tended to gather together at Faces for quite a few yers now.

I will let others respond to the other questions.

Actually...the person behind "Sharky" is dead. He was always a troubled soul and OD'd some years back.

The "Towering Texan" never actually existed. That was a game alter-ego of Kathy, an old RSI employee. She actually "pretended" that "the Towering Texan" was at some convention, writing about it in the DM newsletters. She was caught cheating the game and was "banished" from DM for some time, but still continued to work at RSI. I don't recall if she was ever allowed back in DM again. I would doubt that she still works there...but you never know.

"Donatello" was probably the first "uber-warrior" in DM, and absolutely dominated the top tier tourney for some years. I still remember the first time I defeated Donatello. Very Happy He was run by John Myler, who was also a former employee. I believe he has been gone from the game for several years.

Mannequin! I know he's a friend and associate of mine...but I can't seem to remember who he is! Hopefully I'll be finding out soon; as soon as someone knows how to reach him, please let me know.

If you go to the chat room, Mannequin is on there daily, along with a bunch of other managers.

We would provide his contact info, but think, maybe, that should come from him. We will tell him you are looking for him - and I am sure you will hear from him Chatzky of here.

Mino, you were in DM 20? I managed the Chosen. I loved Seam. It was the most fun I had in the game. My biggest heart break was when Hope Dasher died. She was an offensive total parry. Do they still call them that these days? She was 10-0-1 before she received her first loss. And she did it all while wielding an epee. She died because of me being too cocky and challenging too high.

It's sad to hear about Sharky. I think I bought one of his warriors in the early years. Maybe it was Mob Boss' warrior. Anyway, the warrior's name was Sturm. I did it because I thought I would learn some secrets from one of the big shots.Smile I got a regular overview without any skill totals. It was a pretty mediocre warrior as well.

I'd always suspected that the Texan wasn't real. I remember the reported sightings in one of the newsletters. It was just too out there. Back in the early days of Monuntial, I and six other friends from Mobile had a major alliance. I don't know if the rest of the arena was aware of it. There were only 27 teams there at the time. So we had an awesome information exchange. I walked away from it and the game because of the 'Towering Texan'. The Texan and I got into a feud. But it was all words. No warriors crossed paths. I can't remember why. After reading her diplo note and personal ads to me, I concluded that the character wasn't real. It was just wrong to me. EVERYTHING AFTER THIS IS A THEORY: my warriors started dying and their replacements were size 15+. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I received the same replacement warrior six times. I asked in the personal ads if anyone else had that problem and the Texan replied that it never happened. I know it was happening because I wrote down my warriors stats at the time.

Here is a fun fact: Mannequin came to my wedding in Canada eleven years ago. We had been pen pals since the late 80s and played in some arenas together. I met him face to face on my wedding day. But before I met my wife, I use to flirt with his sister a lot. Cool

So, do people still play LeGrand strikers? Laughing Oh! Why was closing Seam a stupid idea?

Interesting stuff.
Yes, I knew Darrell went to your wedding.
The only DM wedding I have attended is Slugbait's.
Yes, there are still OTP's yet today. (fun warriors)
Yes, there are still LG strikers, but that nomenclature and concept are not so prominent any more.
The Black Death closing of quite a few small arenas caused some managers to quit. (Including me for 8 months -which was a BIG loss of income to RSI)

Then I pissed off Doc Steele and started the Invasion of Aruak and RSI's income was restored Laughing

Yes, indeed; and I thank you for that. Without that stimulus .........

It makes quite a story.
