It began as a bit of a roleplay of the "Andorian Way" that I saw Adie/Tankesh use on the Yahoo group to get a new player to join arena 11 (If your desperate for a timekiller someday look back in that group around mid 2003 I'd say). Anyways it was like "KD under 6 aim non-vitals;arms or legs only;and no DCing". Where as Delarqans will go for kills if they so choose and will play however they choose (does NOT mean they are being disrespectful in ANY way other than the RP component for most).

Doc didn't like my "tone" and some of the stuff I said was inflammatory to some so he decided he was bringing 3 teams and I could try and enforce those rules on him. Aruak City has a kind of code that the old-timers of Aruak will "defend". It broke out into 'Larqs coming en masse, Andorians coming to help us defend (even though I was only 3 years back to the game I adopted that credo for that arena), and Freebladers split between us. Looking, in an era much like today of smallish arenas, like this:

That is awesome! I wish I had been around back in those days! 68 teams, now that must have been fun!

That was a lot of fun. All of the then-active 'Sloshers came to the party (on the delarq side, of course). Doc Steele recruited everyone and even set up a separate mailing listserv for the invasion force, so we wouldn't end up challenging each other.

Man! I was going to come back around that time too. I would have loved to fight for the Andorian.

Arkers could use some of that kind of attention.

Out of curiosity, who "won"?

What was the outcome, would probably be a better question. I was playing then, but never really heard about it.

Never heard about it? I thought everyone active at the time knew!

The 'Larqs got bored is probably the best way of putting it. It would be tough to say who won,the invaders did leave though Cool , as it was not an official contest. But there was lots of fun had by all!

The Andorians had their own mailing list/Yahoo Group as well.

We would say the Andorians won by wearing them down. The end result was that Andorians protected and preserved their turf. And the invaders were all cast away.

The Delarqs would put out a "hit list" of whom to kill and offer rewards. It was fun, but did not really get them much.

Doc and The Consortium declared a head-to-head personal battle (We still keep those records on file) and it was a runaway for the Andorian side.

Bear in mind that The Consortium had "quit" for appx 6 months, and it was this gross invasion, led by Doc, then a long-time Consortium enemy, that lured Consortiumites back to help and lead the Andorian way. We have to thank Doc (and Street) for getting us back into this. (And costing us all this continued money! RSI REALLY appreciates it.) Doc and I later learned to both appreciate and respect each other - which was quite the feat!

Heheh! I think I can say even me and Doc, long after the invasion, even learned that we may not like each others Managerial personnas but neither of us was as abrasive as we seemed in the forums/groups. When he retired to put his kid(s) through College we sent some pretty friendly emails back and forth wishing each other well!

We can only hope that they graduate, get a nice high paying job, and pay HIS way through D2/DM!
