Thanks, Chief! I've heard people say good things about Muse, but I must confess that's the first I've ever listened to them. You're right, that is catchy! It's on my favorites list now Smile

No offense taken Flagg if you've heard one Nugent song you basically have heard them all, I dug the Damn Yankees (can we get them back together?), and I'm not a huge Nuge fan; I did love his comments about a certain someone getting a second term and "I'll either be dead or in Jail!" Hope he played them a little acoustic set when the Secret Service came a-knockin'!

Here's some cool stuff of 80s stars who have reunited and seem as strong as ever:

Extreme- Get the Funk Out (w/ an awesome opening "goof" of Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee.... Nuno can still shred. They are funny.. Pat Badger plays it off like "Hey check the set list on the stage floor dude.")

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1AxoPTAgxA

Mr. Big- Green Tinted Sixties Mind (sad to hear Paul Gilbert is nearly deaf but they are in FINE form as always Eric Martin is a Powerful Voice!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-H4nvb_wDM

Mr. Big- To Be With You

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVBpjNntHdk

Keep em coming despite being a Metalhead I listen to lots of stuff even Jazz (Pat Metheny and Wes Montgomery), Blues (the 3 Kings B.B. Albert, and Freddie), and Classical (Paganini and Grieg).

Wanted to add 3 more outside the box videos for those who don't believe that Metal has a VERY strong basis in classical music. Not that these 2 prove anything, neccesarily, but it shows that the distorted guitar used in Metal can be very "violin like". Not to mention it is about time for Trans-Siberian Orchestra to wow everyone again as Christmas approaches!

Pachelbel's Canon (Rock); (Many versions of this Jerry C does another impressive version but I prefer this one)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xjJXT0C0X4

Bach's Air ( One of the most beautiful and touching Classical pieces EVER written)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_pkJc7dKvA

Paganini's 5th Caprice -Jason Becker (he was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) over 20 years ago and given 3-5 years to live. He's still kicking and somehow composes music with only function of his mouth and eyes!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WDjvLVJscI

If interested here's a news piece on him:

Kinghts of Cydonia - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3Yc3HhSl1Q - this video rolls me

Uprising - this one got a lot of airplay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8KQmps-Sog

Panic Station - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk24UKKI4yY

and a bonus - one of my favorite classical pieces

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR9lCa23kzo&feature=bf_next&list=FLOYed8VbIjp58uy7YAPp8eQ - Rostropovich - Bach Cello Suite No.1 Prelude

Street,

That Bach's Air piece was amazing!

Don't know if you've caught this before and while it's not a song, it is a piece of art that uses music to help set the mood. It's from Ukraine's Got Talent 2009. I watch this piece every now and again, even though I can't understand a damn thing they are saying, it's just that good. Doesn't hurt that the chick is smokin hot either.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOMgDbcA84A

Watching the audience's reaction is very powerful, at least to me it is, anyways.

Chief,

ZOMG! That Knights of Cydonia video was freaking EPIC! Good song, but the video was just awesome!

Been trying to track down something interesting on youtube to post, but can't find anything at the moment.

I'll get back with ya Smile

Chief: It is hard to go wrong with Bach isn't it Cool Excellent choice Rostropovich is one of the most "soulful" Cellist's to grace this 3rd rock of ours. My father is a big classical listener (along with Everly Brothers and 50s Doo-Wop and MoTown) so that is where I gained the ear for it, perhaps that's why I went from New Wave/Pop to Metal at the age of 13 (although the bands that turned me to Metal were Blues-based; Ratt and Motley Crue). And being of Ukrainian ethnicity, my Grandparents, and their first 2 children, came over 3 weeks before WWII broke out (his brother was in the Polish Parliament and warned them to leave Ukraine, my family was surprised to find this link about my Great Uncle Nikita Bura recently http://www.ukrainiansintheuk.info/eng/01/bura-e.htm ) I have heard Rostropovich many times before.

As to Muse I go from loving it to meh. They don't quite tug at my heart but I can certainly see how it could others.

If anyone gets the chance I would encourage they go, and take the family too, and see Trans-Siberian Orchestra. When we go about half the crowd, it seems, is my Father's age (70ish) even though it is "Hard Rock" based. They bring a String Section to complement them and the showmanship is unmatched..... and they give $2 from every ticket to charity ($1 to Salvation Army and $1 to a local charity, local to the arena they are in that day). In Detroit, not sure about other places, they do a daytime AND a nightime show the same day. We go to the night show and they seem sharp despite having played 3 hours earlier that day. Being a musician I look for mistakes, or misplayed notes, and can scarcely find a single one in 3 hours!

TSO- Wizards of Winter (Live)

TSO- Christmas Canon Rock w/ Jennifer Cella (she is AMAZING!!!) (on Guitar, I can tell by the Gray patch in his hair is Alex Skolnik formerly of Testament) (Live)

TSO- Christmas Eve Sarajevo (12/24)/Carol of the Bells (Live) (this one always gives me chills...still)

If you liked Jennifer Cella here's a bonus

Since we're off on a more "classical" bent how about these 2 masterpieces:

Apocolyptica feat. Adam Gontier- I Don't Care

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxDcWvZCSRg

Apocalyptica feat. Ville Valo & Lauri Ylonen - Bittersweet

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBH8361-Jnw

3 VERY talented Cellists who started out covering Metallica!

Here's a bonus with some sweet violin!

Tantric- Down & Out

Wanted to share some stuff from an amazingly talented and versatile guitarist:

Ty Tabor- Thank God

Ty Tabor- Tulip (Your Eyes)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq9RNbT7e7o&feature=related

Ty Tabor- Room for Me

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp52t-42xcc&feature=related

Ty Tabor- I'm OK With You

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMjciJ3lAqE&feature=related

Ty Tabor - Missing Love

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtBQA1faEeU&feature=related

A little more mellow then I usually listen to but his voice and writing talent cannot be denied. He plays in a band me and Stik both dig VERY much called King's X!

Not my style of music, I just cannot get into pop anymore (even if it is R&B-ish it's very Adele-like), but she can surely belt it out!

Forgot these guys did this song (don't know how because I love Cat Stevens; before he converted; Harry Chapin, Gordon Lightfoot and such). Hope these guys stick it out and come around again sometime soon because they are so tight live and I never did get to see them.

It's been awhile and do not fear, or fear if you hate my music choices as they may be, I am coming back with 2 new ones for the Metalheads!

Black Veil Brides- In The End

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0EQlIzPowM

All That Remains- Stand Up

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBA4frqKvt8

Hard Rockin' yet accesible for those who aren't into the "-core" music styles (eg Grindcore and Metalcore).

Bonus All That Remains Power Ballad (When these Metalcore bands back off they have some of THE most amazing guitar lines and melodies):

All That Remains- What If I was Nothing?

Here's a good new one for anyone looking to rev up a rivalry:

Only thing is I don't like how any song like this seems to immediately get made into an MMA or wrestling advertisement nowadays...

Each day I pull some memory out of the deep recesses of my mind and search you tube for a song, then click on the playlist and listen to that the rest of the day. There are even playlists for full albums now.

Today: Chris Rea - Texas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMk208Op1Jc

I recommend listening to the whole catalog in order:

The Beatles starting with Hard Days Night
Vivaldi's 4 seasons
Pink Floyd starting with Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Van Halen starting with Van Halen
Sade starting with Diamond Life

Hip Hop and Techno are to distracting at work. But I listen to everything else. Chuck Loeb, Chris Botti, Taylor Dayne, The Corrs, ELO, etc.
