Has anyone compiled a list of the primary skill areas for each style? By primary skill areas I mean the skill areas that you need ratings in for a warrior to get his invite.

Check out Assur's site. He tends to be pretty accurate with such things, especially his corrected activity statements (ie Very Quick and Active; in the charts section). Anyways here's the link to the graduation chart:

I'd take this one with a grain of salt, though. Areas I wasn't sure I took from the Enchiridon. I have NOT tested most of these.

If I was guessing right now on errors:
Aimed Blow is probably Attack, Riposte, Parry
Parry Strikers: Decise, Parry, and ???

The rest look correct and assumes there are 3 areas for each style using the most common natural learns for the style.

Would love to hear confirmation or negation on any.

I may be testing AB and parry in the next 2 weeks, if my warrior wins.

Maybe Parry Strike is :Decisiveness, Parry, Initiative? I am only guessing this because the parry strikers I have run tend to lean towards that. there are a few exceptions, of course.

I tend to think ATT is the 3rd skill for Pikers. At least empirically, ATT is the 3rd most common learn behind Parry and Decise with my Pikers. The sample size small (5) certainly leads to a skewed conclusion.

Anyone else have any data to contribute?

My gut tells me Par-Dec-Att-Ini-Def-Rip is the learn order. I thought there was at once a chart floating around that mapped out learn tendencies for each style. I think PUG's name was attached to it too.

Yes, i have had a couple with attack as well. But I don't see it often with mine. Maybe it is my designs.

Wasn't the learn chart from Pagan? In the Enchiridion or something.

I run more pikers than any other style, and with my warriors, this seems pretty accurate.

It may have been Street, but for whatever reason I thought Ben Hitz/PUG compiled it long before the Enchiridion was ever put together. I have a copy of it [Enchiridion] saved on a file somewhere and would have to look it up to be 100% sure.

It may have been PUG but for some reason I have Pagan's name attached to it in my memory banks Laughing . I know it was at one point printed out in the back area of newsletters, at the very end where articles went, after my return to the game in 2000ish. The article had to do with how to try and maximize your chances of getting certain skill area learns by challenging styles that tended to learn skills in certain areas and would likely have high skill totals in those areas. Based on the theory that your opponent's skill levels affected your possible learns if they had more skills than you in certain areas. Also posited the way you may get those last few hard to get skills (15-20) in a particular area I believe.

If I happen across my old stuff and find it I'll see if I can add it here or start a new topic so it will be on this site for people to get a look at it and be able to refer to it. It is of course a subjective article but nonetheless possibly useful for people.
