Just received the following fight:
Basher swings his quarterstaff
Basher hits right shoulder
Opponent goes into shock and gives up.
Opponent is pronounced dead in the infirmary.
Not sure I've ever seen this before outside of bloodgames. Kind of a cool result, the kind of rare thing that keeps me playing this silly game!
---
It got me thinking. Could Barry Bonds (or insert whoever you want) kill another athlete with a single swing of a bat to a non-vital location such as their shoulder?

Perhaps, if swung in a diagonal-downward direction and cleaves said person in half?

If struck on the collar bone it could cause the fractured end to sever a very important artery thus causing the victim to bleed to death. Yes, Barry Bonds could do this and if he could get away with it probably would have done this to Jeff Kent.

Interesting. Bonds did many things he "thought he could get away with ..." But that is another subject.
I think the short answer is, yes. Blunt force trauma can cause a lethal reaction, but I would have expected that to be to the chest, which I suspect qualifies as a vital location in the question. Other locations I suspect it would have to cause a broken bone and internal bleeding- which could later lead to death - say, in the infirmary.
Still, the should? Interesting question.

not unlike a car accident where there is little to no visible trauma yet the victim dies from deceleration injuries (e.g., the heart becomes detached from the aorta, etc.), in theory if you were struck hard enough to sever something internally, i can see it happening.
loved the comment about bonds v. kent, action. hillarious.
the fastest kill i've ever had involved 2 shots, 1 for the intent, 1 to finish. but i don't think that counts. though it was kinda cool.

I've had a couple of those as well. I always like seeing those, though one of them was against an NPC.
I'll have to check my bloodgames results, but I'm pretty sure I've never managed to kill anyone in one shot, even there. What truly disappoints me is that I have a basher that can use any weapon and does awesome damage who hasn't killed anyone at all in like 5 or 6 wins. I'd have thought he'd be a rolling death machine, but that's not been the case.

It could have also Ben the hidden Wimp string and the victim was just to much of a wimp and was more or less scared to death or wasn't being taken seriously by the nurses and had to prove he was not a hypcondriac

I've had a fighter kill someone in one swing--himself.
Punch with Fist.
Parried.
Shock, Desperate, quit.
Died in Infirmary.
In hindsight I should have kept the fight. If I were a non-addict, that's the kind of thing to make you quit.

My friend long ago in Kaltos lost a warrior to one shot to the ankle. The killer was Woodsy the Owlbear of Cavity Creeps who had 6 kills in basic.

I had one in this recent bloodgames.
MASTINA rushes its foe, its SHORT SPEAR underthrusting malevolently!
UNDEAD OGRE takes a hit to the RIBS!
What a devastating attack!
UNDEAD OGRE has been cleaved through to the breastbone!!!
He DIES suddenly, falling face-forward onto the sands!!!
That was also turn 10 and gave me 5 kills.

Pirates Barry? no, don't think so. Giants Barry? Most certianly.
One of our resident medical doctors can obviously give us the best professional answer, but . . .
I would personally be afraid for my life if Albert Pujols was going to hit me in the arm with a bat or in the head--I just don't see either one ending well for me.
So, if baseball sluggers are BA's, what are hockey goalies? TP scum?
