It was a great back and forth game (Lions/Niners). Rough week for me only semi-saved by the fact one team from the area had to win (U of M/MSU; wrong team won though), Tigers take a 15-5 drubbing; U of M loses to Michigan State and the Lions come from ahead to lose.

Your best positive must've been Ponder's arm didn't fall off! Looked good with a strong accurate throwing motion; very quick release too. Don't forget it was basically a laid back D he was facing by that point. I still remember Chuck Long's first pass was a 38 yardish TD and the rest lives in infamy!

Schwartz lost his cool for sure but Harbaugh (a Wolverine BTW) did kinda' shove him out of the way as he ran by also. If both teams are truly on an upswing this could be a nice rivalry forming out of it however!

Geeze Tony Scheffler who you think you is- Tony Gonzalez?

Comes home and makes the catch of the year at the 2 yard line. On third Down proceeds to catch a TD and then the celebration:

1)Acts like he's gonna' chuck the ball into the wall in the end zone..doesn't
2)Does a mock "Tebow" and gets his Tebowing on... sort of
3)Decides I'm gonna' throw out some Mile High Salutes!

Was respectful yet funny and possibly epic! Returns to his NFL home team (drafted him high as a rookie from WMU) playing for his college's hometown team (Western Michigan Grad). A nice story and seems to be a classy guy.

Oh and nice job right before the 2 minute warning Bronco Punter (your Dad was better anyways) with a Personal FOUL Shocked

Horse meat on the menu for the Lions! Good job so far now don't pull a SOL (Same Ole' Lions) , win the game, and end the 2 game skid and prove you're a contender!

I can't imagine that Cam Newton (who has led Carolina to a 2-6 record) would win Offensive rookie of the year over Andy Dalton (who has led the Bungles, a team that finished 4-12 last year, to the best record in the AFC @ 6-2) or AJ Green (who's on pace for 1200 receiving yards and 10 TDs).

Julio Jones and DeMarco Murray are coming on strong, too. Then again, the media seems to have a love affair with Cam and his reckless play, so it wouldn't surprise me too much.

I would put Dalton slightly ahead of Cam at this point because of team records but, I wouldn't call Cam reckless or say his play doesn't deserve note beyond just a media love affair. He only has 2 more turnovers than Dalton even though the ball is in his hands a lot more than it is in Dalton's. Look at Street's list of TD passes by rookies and add on the 7 rushing TDs by Newton and you've got something nasty. The most touchdowns ever for a rookie (not passing) is 17. So he is real close to both of those records and is real deserving of the attention.

If the Panthers have a winning record in the second half he will walk away with the award and will be the most deserving by far. If he keeps his head together he is on his way to MVP awards. The guy is amazing.

I haven't watched Dalton play at all, but after the Vikes beat Carolina last week I have to say Newton looks like the real deal. He's making his share of rookie mistakes but his potential is ridiculous, and honestly I thought he'd be terrible this year and maybe a total bust.

Side note: if OUR rookie, one Mr. Ponder, had been starting from the opener instead of no-good McNabb, they'd likely be 4-4 at least right now and still in contention. It's early, but Vikes fans are feeling very optimistic! At least about the offensive backfield, now if we could just get a freaking stadium built.... Rolling Eyes

Slightly? I don't know how it's even debatable. Dalton has more TD passes, less INTs, and is 6-2 (4-1 on the road). Newton has less TD passes, more INTs, and is 2-6 (incluing 0-3 on the road). Even more impressive is that Dalton's best receiver is a rookie while Newton has all-pro Steve Smith. How could ANYONE think Newton is more deserving?

And to say "if the Panthers have a winning record in the second half, he will walk away with the award and be the most deserving by far" is ludicrous. Perhaps if he outplays Dalton in the second half of the season, he'll be the most deserving, but so far he hasn't and doesn't deserve anything save a better comparison (like to Dante Culpepper instead of JaMarcus Russell).

Um? What to say?

Well Cam Newton throwing high on almost every pass, still need to work on the footwork a bit kid! Set your feet and square up or that cannon arm will miss it's target high everytime! A good portion of his 280 yards came on RAC, and 4 INTs. Very athletic but I'm staying on the fence on whether he was worth the #1 overall pick!

Matt Stafford with 5 TD passes and not one to Megatron, also can't even give him the Player of the Game! That goes to Kevin Smith who was sitting at home 3 weeks ago, last week he was not in "football shape" so saw limited action, this week a career high 140 yards rushing and 2 TDs and why not throw in 61 receiving yards and another TD!

Wondering if Consortium can hook us up with some collector's edition Cam Neton jersies? That's right cause with Cam there's no W!

Just came across this blast from the past. I may be of a limited few who thinks that there was one more elusive running back in NFL history than Barry Sanders. Unfortunately his career was cut short by a knee injury before they really knew how to reconstruct a knee. That guy was also #20 Billy Sims! I watched this game when I was 12 years old and thanks to the interwebs I can relive that moment again. Check out this run:

To get a winning record in the second half he would have to outplay Dalton more than he already has, obviously. I did give the edge to Dalton. As far as total TDs Newton has far more and at this point is only 3 turnovers ahead. You're seriously spinning it It is a lot closer than you are making it out. And yes he does have a good receiver but others have had that same receiver and come up with nada. In fact you could just as easily say Steve Smith is having his best season in 6 years due to Newton's play. That is also obvious. I don't see where the Russell or Culpepper comparisons are coming from. I would rather not guess. Maybe you could break it down. What I wrote was not ludicrous. Newton has performed really well for a rookie. That isn't to say that I don't think Dalton hasn't done the same.

So who had Janikowski in any of their FFL leagues? Tht game was a kicking clinic for sure. Lechler also got an 80 yd TB punt in the game for the Raidas'.

Denver eeks away from a disater with a late win. They call a TO just before the FG attempt by SD in overtime but they blocked it giving another kick from 53. A perfect D'OH moment. He missed it luckily for Denver. And of course the Tebow legend grows yet larger. I'm guessing almost every market delayed 60 minutes too stay with a Tebow OT game!

Perhaps defenses are so fast and keyed up to stop the "read option" offense Denver has gone too, and everyone said cannot work in the NFL, that they run themselves out of position too early leaving running lanes in their wake?!?! The true test will be Chicago on 12/11. That defense is read and react then try and cause a fumble or interception. Can Tebow withstand and outwit Urlacher and gang?

Not going to talk about my team giving us nothing but feathers for Turkey Day..... UH-GAIN!
