Don't know if I ever posted this one but every time I hear this song I think she would have been awesome to have put together with Dio to do a duet. She reminds me of the female version, vocally, of RJD.

Interesting, and somewhat strange, new project that has come along.

Sweet & Lynch - Dying Rose

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSbQgAntZZ4

Sweet & Lynch- The Wish

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmmolV-B7xE

Bonus song:

Michael Sweet w/ Electra Mustaine- Heart of Gold

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDr7R8BLe3U

Never thought about Stryper's Michael Sweet pairing with George Lynch but it sounds pretty damn good!

Dave Mustaine's daughter actually has a pretty good voice, she would probably do very well as a country singer as she has that "lilt" in her voice!

Street Legal here continuing to bring you Hard Rock/Heavy Metal bands you may never have heard of. Going through Lacuna Coil stuff I discovered this band, founded by original Lacuna Coil guitarist Claudio Leo:

Cayne - Little Witch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaKZlCyp4zA

Cayne - Addicted

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKvRLlwFJRY

Cayne - Like the Stars

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgzUldBLFG8

One thing I usually use to measure a band is how they sound live. Here's a live performance that was taken from the memorial to their original Guitarist Claudio Leo who passed away, from Cancer.

CAYNE - THROUGH THE ASHES - Claudio Leo Memorial

It used to be said women didn't have the right type of voice for Metal and yet in Europe there are TONS of them. They have a Festival every year called MFVF - Metal Female Vocals Fest. At 2 of the recent ones they all get together as one band, called Eve's Apple. As you can see from these videos there are a LOT of female Metal singers in Europe.

Eve's Apple - Stars (Cover of Hear n' Aid song), it doesn't really get going until the 2:00 mark

As a note to the above post. It's sad to see talented musicians struggle and bad musicians flourish. Here's the 2nd song from above sung by the original writer, she played guitar on the above video.

Great songwriter with an incredible voice! She seems like a mix of a folk/country/metal singer. With plenty of soul mixed in. She does sing with a Metal Band St0rk, with ex-Korn touring guitarist Shane Gibson, but this is a country-rock styled song performance.

I've been dying to hear what Nightwish would do with their new singer (3rd singer). This girl has got outstanding "pipes", she sings Opera too.... This is one of the top lesser known Prog-Metal bands out there, they also are considered Symphonic Metal.

New Whitesnake coming out soon. Looks like Doug Aldrich is gone and it's now Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra. Hoekstra is a guitar master who plays with Trans-Siberian Orchestra among others. They say he's a "Work Horse" guitarist!

New song/video from "The Purple Album":

Whitesnake - Stormbringer (Official Video) (The Purple Album / New Studio Album / 2015)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk9wWj8Wh30

REALLY good song here! 200,000 views in a week. Probably not possible but could be a Whitesnake resurgence! Hope the rest of the album is as good, or better, as this song is!!!

Side note to above Doug Aldrich, Jack Blades, and Deen Castronovo formed a new "Supergroup" by the name Revolution Saints. Castronovo actually has a pretty good voice!

The problems with super groups is that they are almost never super.

Besides Cream I can't really think of a great super group.

The Traveling Wilburys? Hard to argue with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty.

Haven't heard the Sweet & Lynch yet though Michael did let me know about it in a newsletter. Probably check it out this weekend.

I have to say that I think Damn Yankees is an under appreciated 'super group'.

Saw the Damn Yankees twice at the DTE... errr Pine Knob Thetaer outdoors. What a BLAST! Ted shot a life sized Saddam Hussein right in the heart from 25 yards!

When they first broke up rumor had it Rik Emmett, former Triumph guitarist (and my all time fave guitarist ever) was going to replace Nuge but then Nugent came back and Rik said with Tommy and Ted you guys got plenty of guitar ability. What a shame I would have loved to add Rik's voice with Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw.... It'd be like a Metal Crosby, Stills, and Nash.... another fine supergroup! Everyone forgets CSN &sometimes Y were a supergroup!

New stuff from an unusual pairing.

One was the singer for the band Helloween in the 80's (Michael Kiske) and a girl from a small Michigan town called Flushing, who went to Germany to become a pop singer (Amanda Somerville), but became a vocal coach for Metal vocalists as well as doing Metal herself after a few years.

I just happened to hear the Gin Blossoms "Found Out About You" while sitting here doing work. Of course, I had heard it numerous time before now.

The thing that struck me in the context of this discussion was the underlying story: Doug Hopkins from Gin Blossoms was a pretty impressive songwriter and guitar player. He wrote songs that I could connect to. It is not surprising to me that most of the "hits" from New Miserable Experience were his.

Of course, that can create a problem when you kick the guy who wrote the best songs on your album out of the band because he is an alcoholic. He committed suicide shortly thereafter.

You can hear the magic of his diseased view of life in songs like "Pieces of the Night", "Found Out About You" and "Hey Jealousy"

I know this is not normal fair for this group, but I did want capture my appreciation of this songwriter since there's a forum for it here on reality.com.

Cheers!
