Came across this song and wondered if anyone remembers it:

Rhythm Corps- Common Ground

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90Dt75MVtqw&ob=av2e

They were a one hit wonder from the Detroit area around '88-'89.

DC Drive- You Need Love (Pretty sure nobody has heard this minor hit love the sax solo leading into the guitar solo)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLBHR24zU4s

Also got 2 early 90s pieces that were popular but not "hits".

Jars of Clay - Flood (Christian band that made a brief splash on the charts)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfAhpX_wIBk&ob=av2e

School of Fish- 3 Strange Days

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onjaC3A2xjk&ob=av2e

School of Fish's one hit wonder but Michael Ward went on to play in The Wallflowers, w/ John Hiatt, w/ Ben Harper. Drummer went on to form Lazlo Bane. They were some Robert Smith wannabees at this point though Laughing

Got 2 more new ones to add to the fray:

Foxy Shazam- I Like It (kind of a Zeppelinesque song)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rz4I69mQMo&ob=av2e

Danko Jones- Full of Regret (Lemmy is in the video nuff said!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN82gSo85O4

Anyone notice Pyschedelic music is also becoming a popular style again? Between Cage The Elephant the Black Keys and this song I just heard today, also on 89 X, sweet song and the video has 67 Million views already.

Gotye (Featuring Kimbra)- Somebody that I used to Know

HS Basketball season is over for us as of this weekend, so I caught up on the music we've all posted. Wow! Love this song!

I also liked the cover that Floyd saw while watching The Ellen Show (heh heh heh). Good cover of a great song, but wtf?? Not sure how this idea even came into fruition. lol

Foxy Shazam does indeed kick all kinds of booty. Big and black and...well just listen to the song or watch the video!

On a somewhat related note, for all the musicians out there, or if you have musician friends, you've got to watch this, my old drummer sent me the link, this is hilarious:

I thought it was kinda cool at first too, but we have a local station that plays it 12x a day, and I've grown to dislike it because of that.

Just had to see if anyone knows this song. It was always one of my absolute favorites from the 80s!

Pretty Maids- Future World

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka6OFwp25YI

Speaking of the 80s it's possible not everyone here knows Great White started as a Zeppelin cover band. They were probably one of the best Zep-clones ever. They had slipped the limelight by the time the album Great Zeppelin came out in 1998. Grunge was still trying to kill Metal but the Metal refused to die Laughing

I virtually assure you've never heard anyone, maybe even Zeppelin, play these songs better.

Great White - Ramble On (Great Zeppelin)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYK0hDtBZ5s

Great White - Babe I'm Gonna Leave ('91 acoustic)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijijBd9oxOM

Bonus 80s track:

Tangier- Four Winds ( A nice bluesy Rocker)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mb5msuLDqgM

Well, I dunno, These chicks flat out RAWK... an all-girl Zeppelin cover band that tours the country. Love the Harmonica part, but that's my favorite instrument anyway.

Zepperella - When the Levee Breaks

Holy Crap, Buri, what a find! Just when you think there's no hope for the all-chick bands! Very cool.

Street, nice GW stuff, too. Amazing how good Jack Russell can sound on that stuff. They were always a bit of a second tier band IMO, saw them twice. Once they were pretty good and the other time they were terrible. The Zep rules, though.

Greatest cover band yep Dread Zeppelin (didn't they have some videos with the storyline of a Milk Truck/Pinto collision or something) was unique, a 300 hundred pound Elvis singing Reggae Zep covers, but if you were to go by the "blindfold test" I think Jack Russell of Great White is another incarnation of Robert Plant. You'd think you were at a ZEP concert, minus the drunken Jimmy Page 25 minute solos that suck, if you didn't know any better. I've never heard anyone do Zeppelin closer to Zeppelin than Great White.

Stik I saw Great White 3 times and they rocked everytime. With Warrant, Contraband, and Ratt. With Ratt they all came out with just towels on when Ratt played their song "Dance". Sorry that you musta caught Jack Russell binged on Alcohol and Coc.

I wish I coulda' found their version of Tangerine on Youtube but no go. It is so hauntingly close it's kinda' scary!
