The responses in this thread remind me of an episode of the Simpons.
The episode is the one where Homer goes back to college.
He has to be tutored by a group of nerds.
Among their stereotypical traits:
-They have superb knowledge in computers, chemistry, physics, math, etc.
-They debate (on a computer network, back when this was novel) who is the superior captain between Picard and Kirk (they choose Kirk).
-The know all the lines to every Monty Python movie. (and proceed to quote 'Holy Grail)
-They stay up all night playing Dungeons & Dragons.
I swear, this was a perfect description of my social group at Colorado School of Mines circa 1990.
