I don't even think Minn is looking to trade into the 2nd any more. They can be content to kick back today, like the cat that ate the canary, and wait for their next pick in the 4th. They've had a pretty good track record picking WRs, I'm confident Patterson will have an immediate impact. Good Job Vikes!

Yeah, pretty good record, just don't mention Troy Williamson--DOH!! Laughing

I think Patterson is a bit of a high risk/high reward guy, physicals are thru the roof but he's young, unpolished and drops some balls. Got his work cut out for him but he'll have Greg Jennings there to mentor him, too.

Pretty amazing that only one QB went first round, and not the one anybody expected, and poor Gino Smith had to make the walk of shame out of there last night, uggh...but I still don't feel THAT sorry for him, or Teo either!

Kluwe was quoted as something along the lines of "being outspoken gets you fired," right after the Vikings drafted a Punter in the 5th round; before his recent release. I hope that draft pick was worth it, considering he was pretty good, because that's why the Lions took a Punter 10 picks later after the guy we wanted went to you guys. Then we took some guy ranked 10th at the position. Considering these were the only 2 Punters taken it seems like a poor pick even if he is a Placekicker and a Kickoff Specialist as well as a Punter. Could probably have had him and/or Quinn Sharp com in as Free Agents. We also have Blake Clingan w had a 41.8 yard average his Senior year at Central Florida.

Thanks a lot Minnesota! Mad

We signed David Akers and a trick shot kicker from Norway named Havard Rugland. His video shows some SERIOUS skill!

Will Adrian Peterson get 2500 yards rushing this year like he's shooting for?

I'm not sure, he usually gets 150-180 against Detroit but the young DTs are coming into their own. Some say the best DT pair in the league (Suh and Fairley) and hopefully the beast Ziggy plays adding to that D-Line that Peterson has to get through. Barring a 40+ yard run I'm calling for him to be held under 100, for the first time in forever against my Lions I am sure. In fact has he ever had less than 100 against Detroit?

My BIG worry is Riley Reiff having to block Jared Allen Confused . After the somewhat sudden retirement of Jeff Backus. Poor kid has the pressure of being the 23rd overall pick last year, thankfully they used him as an "Eligible Tackle" quite a bit last year to get him experience. And yet he's being thrown into the fire Twisted Evil ! He dropped in the draft due to his short arms.

Our O-line scares me. We have an undrafted Free Agent, LaAdrian Waddle backing up Reiff and the starting Right Tackle is a 4-year, 4th round pick who has never started a game. So both Tackles have never started a game. I'm fine with Raiola, Sims, and Gandy but we're only carrying 3 guards; Rookie 3rd round pick Larry Warford is the 3rd Guard (6-3, 333 Shocked ).

Edit- Didn't take long to nullify my 100 yard statement "....barring a 40+ yard run...." GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

Looks like you got the last laugh! Bush fits like a glove into that offense, if he can stay healthy they will put up a lot of points. That defense really got penetration and shut down Adrian after that first carry, I was surprised they kept it up. Ponder was terrible. And, the Bears found a way to squeak their game out at the end, too. Damn! Mad

Sigh . . . .

That was ugly. Last year the one really good thing you could say about Ponder was that he didn't throw interceptions. Nothing was really great (except 10 wins) but at least he protected the ball.

Detroit has the talent, but that game still looked like the old Detroit. They really tried to give that game away in the first half. Against a better team they would never have won. Even so, against the Vikes they were clearly the better team.

15 more to go.

isn't Matt Cassell the backup?

They made a great point on the broadcast that Ponder is locking in on one target and tipping the play to the secondary.

We may have the most inexperienced O-Line in the NFL. Coupled with Stafford's Glass, or is it Bionic, Shoulder I'm a bit scared. I know he worked it hard, to build muscles around it, after the second season lost to a separation but everyone knows once you separate a Shoulder it will always be more prone to happen again.

Then you have perhaps the scariest D-Line in the game protecting the perhaps not so weak as usual Lions secondary. To quote Kid Rock N-Suh(never going to try and spell that first name again), "Has the Million Dollar talent with a 10 cent brain!" Had they not over pursued that first play Peterson may have had 18 carries for 15 yards because he should've been stopped at the line but the over-pursuit created the hole he got through.

But Nomad is right it has the SOL (Same Ole' Lions) look to it. But I think as the talent gels we will be competing for the playoffs .... maybe the Division Confused maybe.

Interesting Fact: The Chiefs 28-2 win was the first time that score has ever occurred in NFL history. The most common score is 20-17 which has happened 240 times!

Oh and was I close on the score? Laughing I may bring back my picks for any gamblers, I had to give up on my Offshore Book betting, and see if I can match my 65% best; I think 56% makes a marginal profit. All for fun/potato chips right Wink

Ooooohhh East Dakota Vikings lose to a former Spartan QB? Ouch.

My Lions put the scare on but managed to hold on with no Reggie Bush just the guy from Detroit's very own Wayne State University to carry the ball for 63 yards on 20 carries, along with his 3rd Rushing TD on the year and 69 yards on 4 catches. Stafford with another 385 yards and Megatron and Burleson both over 100 yards receiving.

If the Steelers beat DUH BEARS DUH, then we will be tied for first after Cincinnati's big comeback against the Packers. So uh go uh Steelers Exclamation Shocked Surprised Confused Shocked Rolling Eyes

Packers lost, that's about the only good thing that happened today. That, and the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx took out Seattle in round 1 of the playoffs. There's one Minnesota team that knows how to win at least.

Vikings, well, they're playing for a high draft pick already. To lose two weeks in a row on basically the same play... Mad Embarassed Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I live in Green Bay and root for the Pack, but I really don't care to much if the Viking win or lose. I just want them to throw TD's to Rudolph. Ponder needs to target that big guy!

I think it's time to tear down Lambeau Field. I'm getting a little sick of the place already. If this game didn't prove that Megatron is the league MVP, Most Valuable Player not Best Player necessarily, then I don't know what will. Without Johnson there was little threat of a Passing game and GB just played a straight defense and locked down Reggie Bush.

I'm starting the "Tear down Lambeau Field" petition right here and now! Laughing

Oh and the Vikings sign Josh Freeman? How many starting QBs does Minnesota need? Rolling Eyes
