What's the Best Arena?

I know this is probably asking for controversy, but I'm curious.

Please give reasons for why you think it's the best.

Who knows, maybe this topic and your feed-back will turn into a "recruiting poster" for new teams in your favorite arena. You may even be lucky enough to gain one of those awesomely trained Noblish Island arena teams!

Personally, I'm partial to Murska Arena (DM-35) since that's where I started playing Duelmasters back in the 80's. I like having the lowest active team number. Also, with Aragon's come-back, we are more active now than in years!

You are right. This would probably lead to a he-said/she-said contest.
Therefore we will abstain, other than to say
Managers tend to make the arena.

I'll put in my plug for DM81 Shadowspire. It's the only arena where the game plays like it did when we all first started. 20ish teams, no prize monsters lurking about, and everyone runs full teams. Nobody sits out to time for tourneys. Straight up, honest duelling. That's the best part of the game, and why everyone should run in DM81!

I sent in a team to Shadowspire. I am interested in finding out how fun it is. Look for Rogues Den soon...

SUNSET. SUNSET. SUNSET.

Start up a team there and see why...

Seam DM-20.
That is until they closed it and turned it into an all basher arena.

Otto X sums it up perfectly. I can't add much more to that! Shadowspire has been an extremely fun arena to run in for the last 4+ years!

I have been active in 21, 32, 47 and 81 at some point for at least 12 turns or more in the last 4 years. I would say my favorite arenas are 21 and 32. 81 was fun at the beginning but all the whinning made it less fun. It may be different now but I am very happy in 21 and 32. Both are very active arenas with lots of participation in both arena and tourney. The PAs have been a little lax as of late but I hope to turn that around.

In a nut shell, for a good time come to either 21 or 32 Wink

As expected, this is an advertisement section for arenas.

We like 'em all.

GB -- All the whining stopped when you left. Is that a coincidence? I'll talk more trash to you on Chatzy so this doesn't feel like a hit and run bazinga! Wink

To the others:

I strongly advocate 81 for all of the reasons that Otto has already listed, so I won't bore you with to many repeat details. The only thing that separates you in 81 is managerial skill and a little bit of luck with the RU pool and match ups. Good mix of managers from all skill levels, solid number of teams each turn, as even a playing field you can get for Basic, live spy report every other turn, Kid Arcane is good for a spotlight just as often, etc, etc.

I run losing teams in 21, 81 and 102. Best of all they have the same due date so I can send in my turns in a single 9x12 envelope.

I am mailing an envelope today in fact.

IMO, the most fun (and competitive) regular arena is 21.

I see above that a handful of yokels seem to enjoy 81. Or at least claim they do. I thought it was as boring as fecal matter. Proponents bill it as…zzz….zzz…huh? What was I talking about? Oh, Shadowspire. (yawn) Yeah, some people bill it as an “old school arena,” but what they really mean is that it’s a no-tourney arena. That’s the only thing they have in common with old school play. Different experiences, I guess.

In short, if you want an exciting, challenging arena, 21 is your best bet. If you want lots of dull conversation and mediocre competition, Shadowspire is your place.

Says the person that lasted how long in 81?

Notice I'm not going to bad mouth 21 or 32 or any other arena I've never played in for an extended amount of time. Some other managers should follow suit -- or at least preface their statements with I only lasted ______ turns in this arena and compiled a _____ W/L%, so we can file your opinion properly.

21 & 32 are by far the best arenas to be in. Plenty of competition and blood and at the same time a healthy bit of bantering.
