DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
The tourney is officially over. A couple Black Bulldogs fought. Unfortunately, our
manager wasn't paying close enough attention, and Ironfyre had one too many pre-
tourney fights. As a result, he fought as a 21 FE Champion. The result was pretty much
as expected: 0-3 and eliminated. Our newest member, Dreadstar, fought in Rookies. He
seemed overwhelmed from the start. Those tourney crowds are way bigger than those here
in Kaltos. Dreadstar got confused by having another warrior in the Rookies tourney
with the exact same name. Showed up at the wrong time once. He ended up stumbling to a
1-3 record. Now he has a chance to get his feet wet here in Kaltos before (maybe)
heading to his next tourney.
I will be exercising here for six more turns, unless something really unforeseen
happens. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I will be able to swing that hoped for
Immortal Champions situation. I would have to stop at 15-4 to have exactly 30 FE, and
that's not enough to get an Isle invite. Darn!

SPY REPORT
It is I, Novgorodny Vir, Spymaster of Spymasters. Look on my work, ye mighty,
and despair! Nothing is certain in KALTOS, with changing loyalties, changing
Duelmasters. Write this down: new top team--NINETY-THREE. Practice pays for
VIVANDIERE, who pummelled CAPTURED ORC, to pocket 19 points. A certain someone
should cut down on the drinking and practice more, after losing 13 points to
TELLMARCH. (Discrete enough, MORDRAK?) Those who hoped for a new Duelmaster were
disappointed by STAFFORD, of FANTASY TEAM 10, who despite a 11-5-1 couldn't overcome
KALTOS' Number 1. Word has it one team in KALTOS is taking speech lessons to try to
bore their opponent to death. I'll bet it works.
So much to report, so little time! Like a horde of jackals fleeing from the
lion, so did the "warriors" in KALTOS avoid VRYDRUIG EIRAGH. As a woman of good
breeding scorns the "warriors" of NINETY-THREE, so did that sorry team shy from
VRYDRUIG EIRAGH If challenges were horses, GAUVAIN could open up a fast food joint!
Like the wind whispering among the pines, do hearest I many disquieting rumors.
Perhaps BLACK BULLDOGS were the only ones left untouched by STAFFORD demise. Can
anyone ever take its place? Or do I exaggerate? Does NINETY-THREE care so little
for their fallen comrade, IMMANUS? RHESUS was heard at The Victory Tavern
sneering... Oh hard! that to strike a flame, the match itself must needs be
wasting!
All good things must come to an end. As if buffeted by forces of nature beyond
my control, I must take my leave of this place. Do not despair! I shall return!--
