DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
I am back for another turn as your Duelmaster. I appreciate the challenge from the
Enemy Within, but to beat me you are going to have to come out swinging a lot harder
(and faster). My manager has struggled developing warriors with the parry-riposte
fighting style in the past, but I think that he is starting to get the hang of it.
One of the tough decisions is whether to carry an off-hand weapon or a shield. When I
did not have as many skills/ ratings, I was carrying a small shield. It helped a bit
in parrying, but I kept trying to use it to hit my opponents (with marginal
effectiveness). Now that I am a bit more skilled, I am carrying a dagger in my
offhand, and I seem to be doing better.
This turn, I am going to give Gymnastics a shot at the title. Gymnastics has the same
recognition points as myself, and I like fighting lungers. Also, my manager just
bought tickets to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, so he thinks that Gymnastics was
inspiring challenge and deserves the title shot. Good luck to Gymnastics. Sadly, I
must report that my manager is sending Vice- President to the Dark Arena. J.D. Vance
never learned much, and is a below average striker. He probably should have been sent
there from Day 1.
I would like to see some more personal ads in Solven -- it used to have a lot of
chatter. The Arena is kind of quiet these days.
I hope to return next turn. My manager actually sent me into the mail-in tournament
-- not sure whether he sent in my strategy sheet in time, or even if he did, whether I
will come out alive with all those aimed-blows in the ranks of the Challengers.

SPY REPORT
Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out SOLVEN to see
what's new. Like, THE REPUBLICANS had to be so embarrassed when they got kicked off
#1 spot by NEON TREES! Way to go NEON TREES! I don't wanna hurt anybody's feelings
or anything, but RED SECTOR A really goofed with their 2-3-0. NEON TREES like really
fought hard to move up to 1st from 7th. Way to go! Cut this out and put it in your
scrapbooks, PROTECTORS! 'Cause they got 4-1-0 and moved up to 2nd! MVP award for
WILLOW REAVER? NEON TREES' proud of him after beating ZEEK and getting 25 points.
Talk about yer major upsets! ZEEK's match with WILLOW REAVER cost him a loss of 17
points! Like AH FATHERHOOD's GYMNASTICS is sweating since he got challenged by
Duelmaster GIULIANI! This Duelmaster is like something else! GIULIANI stopped
GYMNASTICS dead in his tracks! Is the Duelmaster really being a real snob to his
teammates? Don't ask me!
I gotta admit I haven't been in "deep con caves" with any spies. Really, I just
wing this stuff. The warriors of WRATHMEN 24-10 must be getting lonely. They were
the most avoided team. Do you guys know something that I don't? Is there some deep
dark secret why THE REPUBLICANS' been avoiding WRATHMEN 24-10 so much? Or is it just
that they're too scared? Can THE REPUBLICANS' DUNCAN HUNTER be more popular than me?
He was challenged the most, but is that really the same? DUNCAN HUNTER must not be a
good enough fighter to get in fair fights. He challenged CEDARBURN. 8 is a big
difference. (Well, that's what they tell me.) I thought DUNCAN HUNTER showed great
skill and promise when he was defeated by CEDARBURN. All right, so I slept through
it! Big deal!
Man, all these warriors dying and killing each other! Don't you guys ever give
it a break? How cruel! THE REPUBLICANS heartlessly sent his to J.D. VANCE certain
fate in the Dark Arena. Is a 10-8-0 bad or something? Hey you guys, don't you think
your families would like to hear from you? Write! (Or have someone write for you.)
I really didn't, you know, study when I was a kid. Who would've guessed I'd be
a famous Spyreporter? I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it
