DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Hello Solvenites.
Sadly, this is my last turn as your Duelmaster, as someone from the Gladitorial
Commission made the tragic mistake of allowing me to graduate. That said, immortality
suits me. My manager is debating whether I am destined for retirement after this
turn. He says that despite the fact that my starting stats were not the greatest, I
am the best parry-riposte he has ever managed--hard to believe when I just went 2-3 in
the Challengers Mail-In Tourney.
Apparently, I was using the wrong weapon this whole time. Even if this is my last
turn, I am going to try out my favorite weapon. My other favorites are okay.
For my final turn, I am going to give Willow Reaver a shot at the title. I found it
interesting that Willow Reaver beat Zeek last turn (whom I consider to be a very
formidable parry-riposte). As I said last turn, I love to fight lungers, and I figure
that this will be a good challenge and way to go out. Hopefully, The Republicans will
get a good replacement for me when I am gone.

SPY REPORT
You elder fighters surely remember me. The younger ones may call me Olaf
Modeen. I return to SOLVEN once again! Hmmmph! I always thought MIDDLE WAY 15 was
an over-rated team and they proved it with a 0-1-0! Up 'n down. Up 'n down.
Rankings always change. Up 'n down. I think I'm gonna be... Well, SNOT QUITE
RIGHT's 6th moved them up to 2-3-0 place. PROTECTORS showed SOLVEN what they were
made of as they fought with a vengeance to walk off with 4-1-0. Laughs were big at
NEON TREES while they watched BAM-BOO clobber REGINALD J. PRIEST. He lost 8 points
and got bruised from objects thrown from the stands. SOLVEN has a Duelmaster who
doesn't sit back and get lazy. He challenged NEON TREES' WILLOW REAVER (20-14-1),
which should prove (ahem!) interesting. WILLOW REAVER was reminded on the sands why
GIULIANI is Duelmaster. Wouldn't it be nice to have live subjects to practice on? I
hear some team is looking into the uses of convicted prisoners.
Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges... The most avoided team
was NEON TREES. Management must be dealin', as the boys at SNOT QUITE RIGHT ain't
reelin'! NEON TREES' mad! How well I know the feeling of being the most challenged
warrior, SLOW DRIP! Don't make idle boasts, they may come back to haunt you. SLOW
DRIP didn't quite know what to make of a challenge he received from PRINCE of
PROTECTORS, who is 22 points below him. PRINCE perhaps got his just desserts, seeing
as he beat SLOW DRIP and ended up with 55 recognition points.
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? Many a warrior has met his fate in a hungover stupor. You
young rapscallions, take note!
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here?
SOLVEN is a nice place to live, but I don't like to live in nice places. Time for my
