SPY REPORT
Greetings from Shadowspire, where the ale is cheap and common sense is an endangered
species. The arena is healthy with fourteen active teams throwing bodies into the
grinder. We can always use more, so if you know some unfortunate bums... I mean, if
you know any potential suckers... one more time, if you know any motivated individuals
seeking glory in the arena, send them our way!
The big news this turn is the rise of The Mongoloids II. After spending several turns
lurking around the middle of the pack like a drunken goblin looking for a lost copper
piece, they stormed to the top fo the rect standing with a blistering 10-5 mark over
three turns. Their leader, Byruho, capped things off by taking the throne from Jane
Austen. Congratulations to Byruho, who now has sixteen wins, four kills, and enough
scars to qualify as a topographical map. Otis must be proud!
A tip of the hat to Of Wolf and Man this turn. They climbed to six place in the recent
rankings and posted a strong showing, led by Chakor's destruction of Jason Kidd and
Devoeaux taking down Giotto. Apparently, wolves hunt basketball players and historical
figures now. Dang, Nature, you scary!
Cult of Bacchus had a nice 4-1 deployment. As a man that has devoted most of his life
to the consumption of fermented drinks, I fully support this development. Meanwhile,
Dragonbane Guild managed the rare feat of remaining undefeated and accomplishing
absolutely nothing. Yes, that is right! They were inactive. Where did you go, Nomad?
Clan Longbeard sacrificed two recruits to the Dark Arena this turn. I assume dwarven
accounting departments simply list that under "operating expenses."
The challenge board was particularly lively. Dezmund earned the dubious honor of being
the turn's most challenged warrior. He responded by beating Fulvious Cotta. That is
one way to answer the critics. While everyone was trying to challenge Dezmund, most
people did not want to face any Ale House Mercs on the sands. With Pauly's recent
success in Shadowspire, who can blame. them? Still, I have to make someone feel bad
for their cowardice on the sands, and this week the dishonor goes to Cult of Bacchus.
Brooss continues his reign as Popularity Leader despite carrying a record that
resembles my bar tab after a tournament weekend. Thunderfist scored perhaps the
biggest upset of the turn by taking down the highly regarded Ptyalism. Runnymeade
continues to quietly pile up victories and now sits at an impressive 20-7. Last but
not least, Molson has graduated to the advanced arenas. Congratulations on escaping
Shadowspire's endliess cycle of beatings and occasional bedbug outbreak. May your
future be slightly less murderous than the ones you leave behind.
