SPY REPORT
Well now, Shadowspire, you magnificent stone headache. Turn 494 came crashing like a
barstool hurled from three tables away, and I'm pleased to report that most of it
landed exactly where it was meant to be. Pull up a chair and let me tell you about it
all. Don't touch my drink.
First thing, as it often is, Flavius Manicus is wearing the Duelmaster's crown for
Roman Republic, and yes, he looks smug and content with himself. He flattened Hoard in
a minute flat, which tells me Hoard was getting too complacent or had forgotten his
favorite weapon. Flavius is our Duelmaster and Popularity Leader. The crowd loves a
survivor, especially one who wins just enough to irritate everyone else.
Ale House Mercs continue to run the place like it is their own personal tavern. No
complaints from me, I am a fan. They were the top team this turn with an amazing 13-2-
3. Yeah, you read that right! They have more kills than losses over the last three
turns. They are fighting like the bar tab is due and the loser has to pay for
everyone. Kapow is still the loudest in the room as our Chartered Recognition Leader.
He smashed Groog senseless, showing everyone how he got there. Arctic Wookey and
Molson followed suit, each doing their part to ruin some other team's day. Molson, in
particular, has developed a hobby of killing Childhood Heroes. I understand taking out
the nosey detective, but a Care Bear? Cold, cold, cold!
Speaking of Childhood Heroes, they had a tough week. Leonardo was the most popular
warrior this turn, but being popular doesn't stop fists and blades. Brute Squad 1 took
out Allen Iverson, but Donatello got handled. The death list continues to hum their
name like a too-familiar tune.
On the avoidance front, Cult of Bacchus took the title of "Most Avoided." This tells
me two things: nobody likes fighting them, and everyone is convinced they are up to
something. Maybe the Cult doesn't flush as they should, but Toilet Paper avoided them
the most. Challenges were many this turn, and they were spread evenly throughout the
arena, leaving us without a most challenged warrior.
The Dark Arena claimed its due with a few sent to fight by torchlight. On the regular
sands, we have noted the demise of the Care Bear. Kobe of the NBA Legends taught us a
valuable lesson about warriors with too many vowels in their names. They are ANGRY!
Aii Loraii bought far too many vowels, but let's hope Kobe bought the arena insurance
policy before that match. The lawyers want me to say: "Terms & Conditions apply."
So, that is The Spire for you. Blood on the sand, blood on the weapons, and blood on
my good tunic. No worries, it isn't my blood. A few managers are staring at their
rosters, trying to remember where it all went wrong. Fight dirty, avoid when
necessary, and never, ever challenge the Dark Arena unless you updated your will. Now,
if you will excuse me, I need another drink before the Ale House Mercs and Cult of
Bacchus get here and the taps go dry.
