Notes from the arena champ.
Our tale begins in the land called Bra'lund, with the birth of Helgi, the son of
Sigmund and Borghild. Norns arrived at their dwelling to shape his future as a hero.
Helgi grew strong and bold, his grand destiny yet to be fulfilled.
When Helgi was but fifteen years old, he slew a man named Hunding. This caused
Hunding's sons Eyjo'lfr, A'lfr, Hjorvaror and Ha'varor to approach Helgi asking for
wergild, and the return of the booty Helgi had taken from their father. When Helgi
refused them this, Hunding's sons declared war. In the ensuing battle, Helgi killed
all of Hunding's sons. His grand blade was thus dubbed "Hundingsbana".

SPY REPORT
I was going on vacation, see? Surf, sun... But what do those bums say? "Hit
the road, Debby Tonte. MORDANT needs a spyreport." Oh, well. I don't wanna hurt
anybody's feelings or anything, but ZOMBIE SQUAD really goofed with their 0-0-0. The
guys at SAGE SOLDIERS like really pulled together to get a 3-2-0 this turn, moving up
by 6. One team deserves special mention 'cause they moved up 2 after going 3-0-0.
Keep it up, BLACK OUTPOST! I just can't say enough good things about OF WOLF & TP.
They went 4-1-0 their first time, don't slouch, and they've got good oral hygiene!
Talk about hot teams! ARMY OF ONE goes out, the very first time, and goes 3-0-0!
Like, what do you guys eat for breakfast? MVP award for AVARICE? CHAOS KIDS' proud
of it after beating LIMA BEAN BEAR and getting 22 points. Talk about yer major
upsets! GRID's match with ONE AND ONLY cost her a loss of 18 points! This
Duelmaster is like something else! HUNDINGSBANA stopped HATU WIND dead in his
tracks! I hear the top team insists all their warriors get nine hours sleep. They
want photogenic fighters for PR photos.
Look, you guys stick to fighting, all right? The warriors of SIMPLY DESSERTS
must be getting lonely. They were the most avoided team. Do you guys know something
that I don't? Is there some deep dark secret why CARE LESS BEARS' been avoiding
SIMPLY DESSERTS so much? Or is it just that they're too scared? Can ALPHA ALPHA
ALPHA's SHIRLEY be more popular than me? She was challenged the most, but is that
really the same? Speaking of challenging 28 points above did you hear about
COUNSELOR TROY of ENTERPRISE vs. BLACK PANTHEON's BLACK DEITY? (And how was that
intro!) COUNSELOR TROY lost to BLACK DEITY, but she got 5 points. BLACK DEITY won,
and got 2 points. I don't get it. People were asking me did BAGPIPE BEAR REALLY
challenge TRIFLE? (all right, maybe they didn't, but it sounded good!) It wasn't a
spectacular fight, or anything, but TRIFLE wants me to write about it since she lost
to BAGPIPE BEAR. Satisfied?
What does a fighter fight for? I mean, the crowds don't give a hoot if someone
gets killed. Not after four more fights. Like was that some Bloodfeud, or what?
(ENSIGN PO vs. BLACK SPIRE, that is.) ROCKBITER bloodfeuded (is that a word?) RED
SHIRT #1 for revenge over some guy's bad fortune. Was it really worth it? Fight,
fight, fight. Is that all you guys can do?
Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand

All -- As you no doubt noticed from the bagpipes in the background, we mourn the loss
of one of our own: Quantum Particle, AB 3-8(1)-14-13-17-13-17 who in addition to his
6-2 record in regular play had also gone 4-3 in tourney play. He adds to my list of
ABs who have died before reaching the isle. Was blessed in Damage and Endurance, but
with ST3 could only effectively fight with his fists. We mourn his loss while
acknowledging NO knowledge of whether he had a long career ahead of him. [sigh] As for
the rest of us, Capt Picard is going to be on hiatus for a while since he is ready for
his next tournament. The rest of us will avenge Quantum Particle and await our new
