Here was yet another manager who desired to see his favorite arena grow in numbers to recapture the glory and grandeur of years gone by. Although Hammer had announced his official retirement from sponsoring contests about the time that Lord Xiang had sent him the invitation to participate in an upcoming Mordant Olympics, the lure of participating in a new contest in the original Delarquan basic arena was too good to let pass by. Tripwire had been rumored to be activating a stable in Mordant as well; plus other managers were rumored to be sending stables to Mordant, so Hammer sent out a call to his kLk alliance mates that the Mordant Olympics promised to be an interesting and/or exciting contest to cross blades with old friends/foes to help celebrate the coming New Year! Hammer had already sent one of his Mordant stable warriors to the Summer Tourney and had decided to register the aforementioned warrior for the Fall Tourney as well prior to receiving from Lord Xiang the Mordant Olympics invitation. "Might as well register the entire stable for the Fall Tourney," reasoned Hammer as he prepared for another adventuresome journey in the real world, "God knows they need the experience and this is as good a time as any to find out if they are worth the time and effort of competing in a contest that is certain to draw a number of crafty contest veterans with their far from average stables of warriors!" Hammer dispatched an activation notice to the Gladiatorial Commission for his Mordant stable to be activated as soon as the Fall Tourney concluded; afterall, the survivors would most assuredly need the extra practice before all the Mordant Olympics stables began arriving in quest of glory and grandeur! This just PROVES that I belong here, with a divine purpose to redecorate the arena in my image. For an update: Rookie Manager ran out of pink paint, and substituted purple for the visitor's side. I like the contrast! Lan and Boomer came back with my dry cleaning, and have been sent to help Rookie Manager paint. The arena should be done in time for the next cycle of fights. The bedpan is a hit! Folks keep tossing coins in there as an incentive for folks to stick their hands in there (it has been used, both for its intended purpose AND as a spittoon). Most folks don't realize I have Brick Wall collect the coins (what do golems care about stink and mess, anyway?), then wash 'em. I then go clothes shopping!! Lord Xiang says I have to 'perch my butt' here one more turn for immortality. What? I'm not pretty enough to enshrine me as I am NOW? Pffft! I know I am. Just goes to show what HE knows about beauty! Until next time, Brick Wall gets the nod. -- Flair SPY REPORT Well, what are you looking at, MORDANT? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. Going for broke or broken, our Duelmaster BRICK WALL challenged this turn. And if variety is the spice of life, MORDANT may be getting bland, as FLAIR stays top dog in the city. Conan's Place, humph! I've tasted better ale at mortuaries. Where do they get this stuff? From MORDANT's trash dumps? He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day, the coward. What's the big D? JGW PERISHABLE was the most avoided team? Bunch of lily livered... grumble... mumble... curse... And it looks like WIND STORM avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be losers, if you ask me. Hmph. KANDRIS was challenged more times this turn than the Duelmaster. Now was the DM insulted or feared? Heh, heh. I guess I can give a little credit to GLORIA BLOODSTONE of BLOODFANG CLAN for challenging up by 20 to KANDRIS. GLORIA BLOODSTONE won to get 92 points of recognition. Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and gone, and get to see if their team cared. Titanium shields and bamboo daggers, guess what brave team is developing these kinds of weapons? I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for an epee. Forgive me for writing with a dagger. Just wait 'till next time I show up here, I won't be so nice! So nyaaah! Neon Necro -- Now how about a real warrior to test my mettle? -- Last Rebel Flair -- You are wasting your time, young lady. "Unbelievable deadly force"! Not necessary, and also wasteful. Even insulting. If you had asked nicely, with a logical exposition of your reasoning, I would have surrendered. -- Haydan Lan -- (surprised look) How many bottles of beer did you have before making that challenge, eh? -- Bottle of Beer Bloodfang Stalker -- Now, that is a circumstance I have met with often before, such as at the tourney of, hmm, I don't remember if it was in '95 or '96, but it was very like your situation, except for a different style, of course, and I was TOLD, not that I believed it, that the whole thing was a JOKE, not that I found it FUNNY, but-- Yikes! Who let the Deadly Bore loose at the keyboard? -- Nick Bloodfang Stalker -- Good try. -- Bottle of Beer, default writer of personals for Homicidal Maniacs Silisa the Snake -- I see two sets of blueprints that do not agree. There is contradiction, and the structure is unstable. I have examined the plans carefully, and it appears that a "snake" is a limbless (without support pillars) mobile. You have limbs. Therefore you cannot be a snake. Deception is contrary to the intention of the Great Architect. It is not Up to Code. You must remove your limbs, or your designation must be changed. This is gazebo. It causes cracks in my mortar. -- Bottle of Beer, channeling (more or less) the Brick Wall Marcus -- Gosh, I've got a chart here that says YOUR style shouldn't fight MY style, because it would be ME that wins. So why didn't I win? I mean, I'm following the charts EXACTLY. -- Rookie Manager Flair -- Blonde? Odd, that. I thought you were a redhead. Must have been the light. -- Haydan Lord Xiang -- Regarding the challenges (shrug), Small Arena Syndrome. What else could you do? Mine is the only team you can count on to be here. -- Nick P.S. Good authority, bah! Tripwire wrote a personal several turns ago stating in very clear terms that he was going to make this his home arena and be here always. Haven't seen hide nor hair of him since. Lan -- If you plan to meet the Bore again, be sure to bring your earplugs. -- Bottle of Beer Marcus -- (offended look) We are rude, crude, bloody-handed men here. We should not have any interest in "cuties in the stands." It says so right here in the manual. -- Rookie Manager 5 October 2005 To those once of Willaf -- It's time to come back to the sands. I'm back, exclusively at Willaf.... -- Kurd the Vivisectionist, Your Better 12 October 2005 Magic Man -- You are a fellow Canadian, are you not? Where do you hail from?
