                             Notes from the arena champ.

Hail, my fellow managers of Niania,

I am back in this shrinking city on this joyous occasion to celebrate the superior
skill that Toofless has shown. Twenty-three consecutive turns on the throne, what an
accomplishment. I have to take full responsibility for his premature graduation. I
switched Toofless back to skill training, thinking that he would have done better in
the last tourney and would be graduating upon his return. Alas, he did poorly and
didn't pick up any critical skill learns until this last arena fight versus Lubaya.

One of the more memorable moments I can recall over that 23 turn run was when Iceman
challenged Toofless with his slasher and Toofless broke both of the slasher's
weapons, the next fight Iceman challenged Toofless again and loaded the slasher with
4 backup scimitars. I got a good chuckle out of that.

I must apologize for my lack of correspondence over the last 10 turns or so. I was
distracted by other things and couldn't seem to remember to write down my thoughts in
a timely manner. I certainly wouldn't allow Toofless to say anything, after all he
is a Troll and his lack of teeth makes his speech even more worse to listen too.

Sultan, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. When is the last
time you wrote anything in the ads in this arena? And it wasn't Toofless you fought
on my challenge it was Pip, my 11 wit, 10 fe, PS who was strictly skill raping.

Jinx, welcome back. I will be avoiding Solitaire like the plague this last turn even
though I have beat him before and on your challenge.

Golden Fish, you have been worthy opponents over these last few turns. I wish
Toofless did have to keep running into your warriors. Such is the life in a Small
arena.

Here are Toofless' final stats:
15(1)-21(3)-6-6(1)-21-10-11
LOW/VL
SH
Rip Tactic/Parry Learn
Mater Parry and Expert Defense

As funny as it seems this is my first TP to ever graduate. TP is number 8 out of 10
styles for me, the remaining 2 are PS and PR. Hopefully Pip will be my first PS
since he is the only one I am running at the moment. Rippers have been a bane of
mine since I started, all but 1 have died on me and the one remaining living one is
1-7.

Well, until my next warrior to ascend to the throne of this city....

                                      SPY REPORT

I can't believe the violence in NIANIA! I still haven't told Mom I'm writing
Spyreports. She'd have a cow! Well, here we go... MVP award for PIP? GLORY BOUND
TROLLS' proud of it after beating FORMIDABLE and getting 17 points. Talk about yer
big time losers! FORMIDABLE got smashed by PIP, and lost 9 points! This Duelmaster
is like something else! TOOFLESS stopped YELLOW PIKE dead in his tracks! Is the
Duelmaster really being a real snob to his teammates? Don't ask me!
I gotta admit I haven't been in "deep con caves" with any spies. Really, I just
wing this stuff. The warriors of HARLEQUINS must be getting lonely. They were the
most avoided team. Do you guys know something that I don't? Hhmph! What kind of
warriors are GLORY BOUND TROLLS? HARLEQUINS, an easy team to beat if I ever saw one,
can't get them to accept an invitation!
Challenges, revenges, Bloodfeuds. All NIANIA ever talks about is fighting! Me,
I'm more laid back. Fight, fight, fight. Is that all you guys can do?
Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand
wash. I gotta leave. NIANIA is like such a dump, and you guys smell too much! I
had a fun time, see you later-- Debby Tonte

Baphomet -- Received your article on the Tank Lunger! Thankfully my wife's stable
was still active in DM 28 and the Gladiatorial Commission forwarded it to me in her
newsletter packet! Since my current job overseas is requiring TONS of paperwork
during my scheduled vacations, it will probably be about a year or so before I am
able to complete the Style Masters Symposium! Previous contributions are scattered
around on floppy disks and of course I have to type yours as well. I plan to run
another All Arena Ad in the next few weeks to solicit any new contributions and to
update those who are interested. I have yet to write any articles for the
aforementioned work in progress. Have several articles from Jorja/Scribe/Livia/
Judith and another from a Newbie Manager who sent me an article via Email a few weeks
after the All Arena Ad first appeared throughout Alastari. As previously stated, my
overseas job is consuming my vacation time; however, I should be able to begin
writing my articles and compiling the articles the end of January when my vacation at
that time is projected to be free from any School Publication writing or School
Newsletter compilations as it currently is for my November and December vacations! --
Hammer/Vendetta Cartel Captain; WordSmith and WeaponSmith of the Vendetta Cartel
Tarantula Tribe in DM 28
P.S. Funds have been forwarded to the Gladiatorial Commission and soon my friends
and friendly foes will again be able to cross blades with my various HAMMERZ stables
in select arenas throughout Alastari on a more consistent basis!
P.P.S. Late yesterday afternoon after writing this P-ad and PS [Sunday, November 14,
2004] I was inspired to search for the articles that had been copied and pasted to
several disks. My efforts were rewarded with grouping all the Style Master Symposium
articles on one centrally located floppy disk. Then I took the time to type your
Tank Lunger article and saved it to the central disk as well. However, the time
frame for the Hand Book remains the same as mentioned above. I do look forward to
receiving your Charts that you mentioned in your Diplo with the Tank Lunger article
that you sent.

Pip -- How can you be "glory bound" if you lose to me? And how a "troll," glory-
bound or otherwise, if you're listed here as a golem? Oh...a rock golem, perhaps? I
once heard someone, I don't remember who, suggest that trolls were actually golems in
the beginning, and then their magical "life" became real and they started breeding.
Scary thought! What if other golems started breeding? Bad enough to have trolls. --
Yellow Pike, brooding on the evils often worked by well-intended magic let loose in
the world

Toofless -- FINALLY you graduate! Congratulations, and don't let the door smack you
in the rear on your way out. -- Lubaya
P.S. I can't say "good fight," because there wasn't any fight. Just me, practicing
on a target dummy till I burned out. Of course, since it was me, the demonstration
of technique was mistressful.
P.P.S. Were you, by some chance, waiting on that rating before you left? If I'd
known, I would have given you special tutoring MONTHS ago.

Prowess -- Well, I knew you were more impressive than me, all along. I quite
EXPECTED you to win, you know. But...only one skill? (sigh) Better than no skills,
I suppose. Better than DEAD, which if my teammates don't get moving and rescue me, I
might be anyway. Tied up in a cave is bad enough, but now that wretched Dwarf is
talking about gigantic saws. It gives me a cold grue just thinking about it. --
Abalonea
P.S. Are YOU going to help rescue me?

Formidable -- Yes, I guess so, but *I* am more experienced. And a good thing, too,
if I have to do a rescue. -- Analira the much put-upon

Solitaire -- I don't know why I expected you to be a woman. Odd, that. -- Nellistha
P.S. I'd make some further sort of a comment, but Geroge Krag, the Kung-Fu Master,
you know, keeps me too busy. But, my...that man does know how to handle himself!
And me! I'm learning a lot from him.

22 October 2004
                         Youngblood's Three and Out Contest

I would like to take this time to announce and invite all managers to compete in what
I think will be an awesome contest. If you haven't ever TC'd at a tourney before,
here is your chance. The contest will start Wednesday, December 1, 2004, but a
chance will be given November 17 to dark arena, only, any warrior that you do not see
fit to run in the contest. So now that I have your attention, here are the rules
(like you didn't know they were coming sooner or later).

 1. Any manager participating can enter one team, only.
 2. No sandbagging whatsoever. (I will keep up with it, every turn.)
 3. No teams or warriors will be allowed to run after contest starts.
 4. All warriors will run until they lose three times, after three losses they are
     eliminated.
 5. If a warrior sits out a turn, they are accounted with a loss in the contest.
This is to keep warriors with winning records from sitting out until the end of
     the contest.
 6. If a warrior is killed during the contest, the replacement cannot enter the
     contest.
 7. If a warrior is killed, bloodfeuding is allowed, but only by a warrior that is
     active in the contest.
 8. If a warrior is run after being eliminated, the manager is disqualified from the
     contest, no questions asked.
 9. Challenges are legal, up or down.
10. Contest will keep going until 1 warrior is left without three losses, and that
warrior, of course, is accounted the winner.
11. All managers participating will be asked to purchase a rollup certificate, to be
awarded to the winners of the contest.

                                    <<<PRIZES>>>

As I have already said, and according to participation, rollups will be awarded
to the first and second place managers. So the majority and minority of the rollups
will be determined when all are accumulated.
Contest Champion--2 Faves prizes, and majority of rollup certificates
Contest Runner-up--1 Faves prize, and minority of rollup certificates
So once again I invite all managers old and new to participate in what should be
a fierce and challenging contest. <<<REMEMBER, FIRST OFFICIAL TURN OF THE CONTEST IS
DECEMBER THE FIRST, AND AS I SAID BEFORE, THE TURN BEFORE (NOVEMBER 17TH) YOU MAY
DARK ARENA CHALLENGE ONLY!!! ANY WARRIOR WITH ANY FE (FIGHT EXPERIENCE) WHEN THE
CONTEST STARTS WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE CONTEST.

11 November 2004
All you alliance-type people, I'm trying (again!) to get my alliance listing correct
and up to date. Either send me a diplo (address it to The Saint) or send your
updates to me directly at Sue at solberg-mathews.com. As you may guess, replace the
at with @ and you're good to go (I do hate spammy mail and this will end up on the
web).

I have information on the following alliances: ADIO, Allied Axis, Armada,
Brotherhood of Justice, Brotherhood of the Blade, Cadre, CDC, Chaos, Inc., Circle of
Order, Company of Brothers, Consortium, Council of Lords, Couple Good Guys, Crimson
Vengeance, DOA, DOOMcorps, Enigmafia, Eurosquad, Fascist Federation, FONZ,
Frothingslosh Syndicate, GAPPDA, Homeland Alliance, IT Alliance, Jingoists, kLk,
Knights of the Covenant, LBA, League Arcane, Legion6, Living Essences, Lords and
Ladies of Darkness, Manic Union, Midnight Foundation, Minions of Diana, Monarchs of
Montezuma, NCA, NIMROD, R.A.G.E., Seventh Sons, The Firm, The French Connection,
Vendett@ United, and the Vendetta Cartel.

If you are a member of one of these alliances, let me know. If you are a member of
some other alliance that isn't listed, let me know. If you were at any point in your
past a part of one of these alliance but are now independent, also let me know.
Going inactive doesn't mean you get removed from this list; people are assumed to
still be in the same alliance when they return. Even having everyone in an alliance
go inactive doesn't change anything. If an alliance is officially disbanding, that's
another thing you have to let me know....

The Saint, keeper of lists

P.S. If you already responded to my online plea (and I replied), you can ignore
this.

Hammer 500-Hammer Run for the Roll Ups
                                  Hosted by Hammer

Niytyole Island DM 33 has dwindled to the point where as of T-482 [duedate
November 3, 2004] there were only 2 active stables listed with 3 inactive stables in
a once thriving and lively regular arena.
During the past 40+ cycles Hammer has been hosting the Hammer Run for the Roll
Ups in DM 33.
Thus far only the Ripper and Slasher categories have produced winners to claim
the 5 New Team Roll Ups Prize for being the first declared Style Master of their
respective categories to graduate.
Every contending stable has gone inactive for one reason or another, including
CASINO HAMMERZ, over the past several months.
Now DM 33 faces the harsh reality that if RSI chooses to close any arenas due to
little or no interest, Niytyole Island could very well head the list of endangered
regular arenas!
In an effort to preserve his beloved island, Hammer is announcing the
continuation of the Hammer Run for the Roll Ups; combined with the Hammer 500 which
will conclude both contests on T-500 [duedate July 13, 2005] should DM 33 continue to
remain open in the coming months.
     Attention Hammer Runners!
The Hammer Run is for 0 FE Basic Arena Warriors ONLY. Participants MUST Be
Declared in the P-ads On or Before their First DM 33 Basic Arena Fight to Qualify as
a Hammer Runner! Winners of Each Category will receive 5 New Team Roll Up Gift
Certificates mailed from RSI courtesy of Hammer! [On the condition that they
Graduate on or before T-500; see amended rules below!]
The following Style Master categories remain open with a listing of how many
declared contestants are still entered and their W/L recognition record at the time
of their disappearance from the Hammer Run competition:

The purpose of this contest is to restore DM 33 to a lively and entertaining
arena!
Hammer is willing to foot the Prize bill in a last ditch effort to save Niytyole
