DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Doesn't Mr. Sax ever learn, to translate the lyrics of a mythical ballad....
"It's one, two, three minutes and you're out at the old ball game...."
In other news, this will be the last turn for the Bumble Bees until at least the
summer of '04. Life doesn't permit my manager fast arena play in the fall/winter/
early spring. Seriously contemplated one extra turn, in order to mail in a Bloodfeud
strategy for the loss of Javy Vazquez (15-3-17-13-21-4-11 Basher, Assur would be
envious), but instead, since the rest of the team already has a strat sent in for
this turn, we are going to try and fax in a bloodfeud strat for Terry Mulholland, who
was supposed to be sitting out. No idea who I'm challenging this turn, could it be
Mr. Sax again?

SPY REPORT
Ready for some action-packed adventure, some thrills, chills and spills? Well
fergit it, cause this is the Spyreport for OSKSI. Like, GORMENGHAST had to be so
embarrassed when they got kicked off #1 spot by SIMPLY DESSERTS! Way to go SIMPLY
DESSERTS! MVP award for CARACOL? UNBELIZEABLE's proud of him after beating WHIP
SCORPION and getting 14 points. Talk about yer major upsets! WHIP SCORPION's match
with CARACOL cost her a loss of 12 points! Was that a tear I saw in ALTUN HA's eye,
as he took over Duelmastership? And wasn't PETE HARNISCH fit to be tied! I hear the
top team insists all their warriors get nine hours sleep. They want photogenic
fighters for PR photos.
AAARRGH!!! I HATE SPYREPORTING!!! Sorry. I just had to say it. THE BALROGS
was the most avoided team. Is a 527-443-22 record really that scary? Is there some
deep dark secret why SIMPLY DESSERTS' been avoiding THE BALROGS so much? Or is it
just that they're too scared? Like, is GO FISH popular, or what? It was challenged
the most in all of OSKSI! It's got a 20-35-0, is that good? QUICKSAND must not be a
good enough fighter to get in fair fights. He challenged STEVE SAX. 9 is a big
difference. (Well, that's what they tell me.) I thought QUICKSAND showed great skill
and promise when he won victory over STEVE SAX. All right, so I slept through it!
Big deal!
Man, all these warriors dying and killing each other! Don't you guys ever give
it a break? Like, who is this beast??? BIFROST gets sent to the Dark Arena, battles
DARK CHAMPION, and returns to tell of it!!! I bet AESIR manager is surprised! I
hear AESIR sent VOLSTAGG to the Dark Arena. What, is that like not well-lit, or
what? Hey, warriors get killed by other warriors, not by their manager sending them
to the Dark Arena. What's wrong with VOLSTAGG's 8-4-0, AESIR? What if they had a
fight and nobody showed up? I'd be out of a job, that's what!!!
Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand
wash. I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it quits. Its been
really albendranius! Later, guys-- Debby Tonte

Bud Smith -- I don't find you on my chart. In fact, I don't find Bombay here
anywhere on the map. What's going on here? (frowning) Are you one of those
adventurers who always heads for the edge of the map? -- Graph
Deeann Rakovich -- Wow, what a woman! What moves! I was standing there minding my
own business, and you came along, and the next thing I know, you've got me on my
back. -- The Goalie, stunned and subdued
Fungari -- Fare well, and may you find yourself in a world where fungi and balrogs
are more appreciated. I cannot visualize such a world, off hand, but I'm sure I
could work up a simulation given time and incentive. -- SimEarth
P.S. Hmm, yes...fungi and balrogs, I think I can see it--volcanoes, caves, lava
flows, dark seas.... Is this a nascent adventure, I wonder? Poppa Balrog, do you
have any interest in seeing such a story? Just a relatively small and closed-ended
thing. Anyone else interested?
Dreubra -- You may be sudden and vicious, but you forgot to ask for my jokers! Ha!
-- Go Fish
Amok -- You thought to confound me, to cloud my mind with emotions. That would be...
Not Hoyle
Sultan -- (complacently) Yep, Putt Putt probably could beat me easily. 'Cause he
uses a ball that's too small for me to see. -- The Goalie, best of the worst
Pete Harnisch -- If I were a lowly Basic warrior like yourself, I'd reclaim the
throne. That last fight was simply a test. -- Dune
Altun Ha -- You big oaf. It takes too much sand to bring you dreams. -- Sandman
The Man -- Just a "market correction" in the arena, so to speak. -- Quicksand
Quicksand -- You should have been a Basher! I've found that playing in Quicksand is
much more dangerous than playing Go Fish. To be truthful, I just want to get back to
the real game, but I've got to wait until the stupid schedule says that our teams
play each other. -- The Man
Pete Harnisch/Steve Sax -- You can only avoid me for so long. Eventually, our teams
will play and it will be your arms against my stick. -- The Man
19 August 2003
Citizens of Ghea (only the ignorant fail to note Lirith Kai is not in Alastari),
no new day is rising, but the sun is setting on just another beautiful evening.
While you were sleeping, an irksome rabble has entered the always fair Aruak City.
Of course they fought alongside our warriors, most not so treasured, as all
gladiators do. They drank with themselves, and slept with themselves. Whether they
had masks, who cares.
Warriors, don't be afraid. For years Aruak has been one of the safest cities in
Ghea, and that custom has been continually cultivated, and will continue to be by
those who have called it home for years and those who live, fight, and die by the
same ethics. There is no contest, nor has there ever needed to be one for many
years. A conflict of personalities has arisen, and the city has been 'invaded' by
pests.
Any rules that are annouced will be purely for the joy of the lemmings' own
little world. Those who are being targeted have no interest in participating except
to defend the integrity of an arena that is different from others. Whether you
choose to come to Aruak, do it for your own reasons, not theirs.
Competing in Aruak City has never been for the faint of heart or the weak willed.
Combat is combat, wherever you go. Blood will flow as always, and now many innocents
will be caught in the middle, but those who defend Aruak's traditions never target
those who bring respect of Aruaki customs with them to our home.
So ignore the private ranting announcement brought by the stuporous
Frothingsloshers. If you choose Aruak City, do not choose it for an unsanctioned and
bogus 'contest', choose it for the tradition. Choose it because Aruak is different.
Defenders of Aruak
