SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of OSKSI! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. TWITCH caught the eye of many in the
gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested DANGEROUS CRIMINAL and was awarded 19
points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, THOR put down
SIMEARTH, causing her to lose 11 points of recognition in the process. Most watched
of the fights this week, the spotlight was on GO FISH as it bore arms against the
challenge of reigning Duelmaster SANDMAN. Although GO FISH made a valiant effort, it
did not suffice to topple the reign of victorious SANDMAN. No confirmation, but my
sources claim that the top team has gained their position using magical aids.
Charmed weapons perhaps?
Many and various are the arts of battle. In OSKSI "art" is a word that has long
since passed from the language! OSKSI, city of gladiators! Mighty among the names
of thy guilds is THE NUKES, a guild shunned and avoided by many in the weekly duels.
Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent the better part
of last week avoiding THE NUKES. Indeed it was SIMPLY DESSERTS. Loose talk at the
arena has reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters are
after GO FISH. Watch your back!
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Fate is a fickle mistress. She showers the miserable with fortune
but sets enemies against the victorious. Remember this!
If it were not for my skills as a spy I would have been mugged three times
already in OSKSI. Nice atmosphere you have here! Ahh, but I can hear the spires of
a far off city calling to me. I must away! Till next we meet remember: a fool

Altun Ha -- Er, I hate to draw this to your attention, but there seems to be a
discrepancy in your calculations there. You say "3 out of 35 warriors" are total
parries, and THEN you say there are FOUR total parries in your vicinity. Now, I
grant you that it's quite possible that some one or more among them is SOOO scummy
that he seems to be two warriors in sequence, but still. -- Graph
P.S. Inactive warriors can't be counted, can they? I mean, sure, I could count the
number of inactive warriors and do statistics with that, but not with their
(unrecorded) styles.
P.P.S. But I agree that to have a significant portion of those in challenge range be
total parries, unless, of course, one is an aimed blow, is unfortunate. Even, if you
will, disconcerting and/or depressing.

TOURNEY FREEZE CHANGE -- ADVANCE NOTICE
Beginning at the Winter Face-to-Face in Tempe (January 2004), we will implement
several changes affecting tournaments. The tournament announcement for the upcoming
FTF and future tourneys will reflect these changes.
First, we will eliminate the tourney freeze for all regular DM warrior classes.
Regular DM warriors will not be classed ahead of the tournament, but instead will
fight according to their FE on the date of the tourney. There will still be a freeze
for the ADM classes, occurring on the same timeline as before, approximately 6 weeks
before the tournament.
In addition to the above change, the warrior classes will be slightly altered.
The new tourney classes will be as follows:

All regular DM tourney classes will remain solely FE based. All ADM classes will
now be based on warrior characteristics (i.e., the ADM split algorithm), including the
Freshmen class.
The Gateway and Primus arenas will be merging before the FTF to form one top
arena. These warriors will be split into two tournament classes, the Contenders and
the Primus classes, again based upon their characteristics. More information on this
will be published in the newsletters for those arenas.
