                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

My apologies, Osksi, for not writing my column last turn. Time grows short during
the holiday season and while that isn't an excuse, it does explain the situation.
Frosty, that is a dangerous game you play. I've heard of warriors trying to deflect
blows away from areas that have already been injured, but not to their heads! I do
thank you for the skills, though. I will likely need them, because the next time I
fight, it'll be for the glory of Osksi in a Champions Tournament.

I'm about as ready as I could possibly be, but I'm not sure that will be enough. But
win or lose, I will do my best. My hope is that Carrot will replace me here on the
throne, if he can beat or overtake Gomer. I've heard Gomer is tough though and he
happily eats all his Veggies (actually, I've heard he happily eats anything and
everything, but that is a different story).

But whoever sits here next turn, whether it be Gomer, Carrot, or another, remember
the people who helped you get to where you are and thank them. I have many to thank
and be thankful for! - Green Bean

                         ***********************************
notes from Assur -- Green Bean surprised me from the beginning. But I always say
that there are two things that make or break a basher, independent of everything
else. Favorite learn and Damage. A warrior with those two things going for him can
win fights! Take away one and your basher might or might not be a winner. Take away
both and you're looking at sour milk. Thanks, but I'd much rather take ANY old
vegetable than sour milk!

I will say that I'm shocked at my overall performance here in Osksi. You'd think I
was running scum with my record here. But no, 3 bashers. Granted one has become a
superstar and just might have a shot at a Champions TV. But most likely, Champions
will turn out to be everything I expect it to be as the single hardest basic class to
TV with a basher... Perhaps I'll have a warrior here next turn, perhaps not! Either
way, see you all on the sands.

                                      SPY REPORT

Well, what are you looking at, OSKSI? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens
before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. Later days, VEGGIES, since OUR HIGHEST
HONOR took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. Now let's all watch
FRAT PARTY BLOWOUT's heads swell from their 3-1-0 this turn. Haa ha ha ha! Big
shots, big talk, big deal. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see SOLDIER #2
win a fight and gain 11 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, KUNG-FU MASTER beat GOMER and
GOMER lost 17 points. You're breakin' my heart. Due to absence, and inability to
defend the throne, GREEN BEAN has lost the Title of Duelmaster. Start setting that
alarm earlier! I'm not in a very good mood today, but why am I telling you this?
You want to know what's new, don't you, OSKSI?
Well, let's take a look at some more misdeeds of you miserable sword-boys.
AESIR, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were this turn's most avoided team. Care
to know who is the most afraid of you? And who led the way in this mass act of
cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was VEGGIES. Ha ha ha ha! JOKER was
challenged more times this turn than the Duelmaster. Now was the DM insulted or
feared? Heh, heh. DEWEY was challenged by one of VEGGIES' warriors this turn, with
CARROT having a lead of 20 points going into the fight. CARROT was defeated by
DEWEY! Ok, CARROT want to fight my grandmother next turn? Huh? Now look at this.
SQUASH challenged down 16 against GAMES LIBRARY's JOKER. What a weasel! And sorry
to say, SQUASH bested JOKER, leaving a bad feeling with the crowd. I think
exploitive snob is the term I'm looking for.
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. And now a passing thought on a warrior
dying young (SEGA BOY of FRAT PARTY BLOWOUT): You had your chance and now you're
dead. Oh well... We're all going to die in the end, so why worry if the fate
catches up with you sooner that later?
I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for
an epee. Forgive me for writing with a dagger. Just wait 'till next time I show up
here, I won't be so nice! So nyaaah! Glad to see the back of this place-- Snide
Clemens

Carrot -- (furiously) You don't do any good! I have eaten carrots till my tongue
turned orange, and I still didn't see you coming. This is grossly unfair, and
defintely... Not Hoyle!
P.S. I shall give up the eating of vegetables, as it is plainly useless.

Squash -- A-HA! I've been wanting to do that to you. It's such FUN. -- The Goalie
P.S. And I love the sound it makes. That squishy ka-thunk.

Flagpole Panties -- How did a midget like you get them UP there, anyway? -- Joker
P.S. And did anyone salute?

Gomer -- If I were more boastful and less honest, I'd say, "The Arenamaster must like
you, to stop the fight just as I was about to stage a turnaround." Unfortunately for
me, I was NOT just about to stage a turnaround. I was about to stage a lie-down. --

The Sun -- You took me by surprise, dear, and I didn't have time to get out my
sunscreen. It's the weather, you know. When the lake is freezing, who thinks of
sunburn? -- Hearts

Hammer 500-Hammer Run for the Roll Ups
                                  Hosted by Hammer

Niytyole Island DM 33 has dwindled to the point where as of T-482 [duedate
November 3, 2004] there were only 2 active stables listed with 3 inactive stables in
a once thriving and lively regular arena.
During the past 40+ cycles Hammer has been hosting the Hammer Run for the Roll
Ups in DM 33.
Thus far only the Ripper and Slasher categories have produced winners to claim
the 5 New Team Roll Ups Prize for being the first declared Style Master of their
respective categories to graduate.
Every contending stable has gone inactive for one reason or another, including
CASINO HAMMERZ, over the past several months.
Now DM 33 faces the harsh reality that if RSI chooses to close any arenas due to
little or no interest, Niytyole Island could very well head the list of endangered
regular arenas!
In an effort to preserve his beloved island, Hammer is announcing the
continuation of the Hammer Run for the Roll Ups; combined with the Hammer 500 which
will conclude both contests on T-500 [duedate July 13, 2005] should DM 33 continue to
remain open in the coming months.
     Attention Hammer Runners!
The Hammer Run is for 0 FE Basic Arena Warriors ONLY. Participants MUST Be
Declared in the P-ads On or Before their First DM 33 Basic Arena Fight to Qualify as
a Hammer Runner! Winners of Each Category will receive 5 New Team Roll Up Gift
Certificates mailed from RSI courtesy of Hammer! [On the condition that they
Graduate on or before T-500; see amended rules below!]
The following Style Master categories remain open with a listing of how many
declared contestants are still entered and their W/L recognition record at the time
of their disappearance from the Hammer Run competition:

STYLE MASTER CONTESTANTS WILL BE AWARDED TWO (2) GIFT CERTS AND ALL OTHER PRIZE
CATEGORIES WILL BE DECLARED NULL AND VOID BY HAMMER!!!!!!!!!
The purpose of this contest is to restore DM 33 to a lively and entertaining
arena!
Hammer is willing to foot the Prize bill in a last ditch effort to save Niytyole
Island from deletion if RSI and the Gladiatorial Commission decide that more arenas
need to be closed due to lack of participation and interest.
Should this effort fail to spare DM 33 from deletion, then Hammer is prepared to
transfer CASINO HAMMERZ to another arena if Niytyole Island is closed by RSI and the
Gladiatorial Commission.

Battle Royal 4
The Battle Royal arena contests are one of the purest tests of manager skill
available. The rules are simple. The scoring is simple. The updates are live. If
you would like to participate, simply get a team ready in Talcama in the next month
and announce in the personals that you're in. The prize is bragging rights and
having your name along side previous winners (Doc Steele, Manray Frothingslosh, and
Manager). It is a brutal contest, but it is a lot of fun!
Basic rules: No avoiding other contest teams. Score = Wins + Kills - Losses.
Only fights against other BR teams count. First team to 25 wins!
BR4 begins in Talcama (DM 18) on turn 502, due on Jan 29, 2005.
     Visit http://www.geocities.com/assurnasir/br4 for more information.
